Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, December 5th.

In western Nebraska in Keith County on the 3rd the following birds were
seen at Lake Ogallala: 10 TRUMPETER SWANS, an adult male TUFTED DUCK, 68
GREATER SCAUP, 3 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, 2 LONG-TAILED DUCKS and a male
BARROW'S GOLDENEYE. Also on the 3rd, a PACIFIC LOON, a COMMON LOON, 3
RED-NECKED GREBES and 2 EARED GREBES were found at Lake McConaughy.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 3rd, 2 ROSS'S GEESE and a GREATER SCAUP were
seen at Lake Minatare.

In central Nebraska on the 3rd in Gosper County at Johnson Lake 250
COMMON GOLDENEYES, about 6000 COMMON MERGANSERS, 28 BALD EAGLES, a
COOPER'S HAWK, 3 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, 2000 RING-BILLED GULLS, 700 HERRING
GULLS, 7 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, 200 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS and a COMMON
GRACKLE were found. In northeastern Gosper County on the 3rd, a PRAIRIE
FALCON was spotted.

In eastern Nebraska in Lancaster County on the 3rd at Branched Oak Lake,
an AMERICAN BLACK DUCK , 6 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 10 AMERICAN WIGEONS, 27
NORTHERN PINTAILS and 3 LESSER SCAUP were seen. At Pawnee Lake on the 3rd,
a KILLDEER, 54 HERRING GULLS and a THAYER'S GULL were found.

In Douglas County on the 5th, an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN, a GREAT BLUE
HERON and 19 BALD EAGLES were seen at Carter Lake just west of Eppley
Airport. On November 30th south of Elkhorn, a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH and 5
EASTERN BLUEBIRDS visited a feeder and birdbath.

In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 2nd, a GREAT BLUE HERON, 12 SNOW
GEESE, a ROSS'S GOOSE, 4 NORTHERN PINTAILS and 3 HOODED MERGANSERS were
found at the MidAmerican south pond.
