Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, June 29th.
In eastern Nebraska in the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 24th, 14
AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS (Sinninger WPA), an AMERICAN BITTERN, 4 GREAT
EGRETS, 38 CATTLE EGRETS, approximately 75 WHITE-FACED IBIS, a SORA, 2
SANDHILL CRANES and 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were found.
In Richardson County on the 24th at Indian Cave State Park, 2 KENTUCKY
WARBLERS and 2 LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSHES were seen on Trail 5 and a CERULEAN
WARBLER was found on Trail 9.
In Lancaster County on the 23rd, a LEAST BITTERN was found at Cracker
Barrel Marsh SE of North 27thStreet and I-80 in Lincoln. On the 23rd at
Branched Oak Lake, 2 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, 20 DOUBLE-CRESTED
CORMORANTS and 2 RING-BILLED GULLS were seen. On the 24th, a CAROLINA WREN
was found in the area of South 44th and Antelope Creek Road, south of Eden Pool.
In Knox County on the 22nd, a singing LAZULI BUNTING was seen again
mile south of Highway 12 on Road 531 approximately 3 miles east of Niobrara.
In western Nebraska in Keith County on the 23rd, a PACIFIC LOON and 20
CLARK'S GREBES were seen on Lake Ogallala.
In Scotts Bluff County on the 23rd, a WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL and 50 RED
CROSSBILLS were found at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center.
On the 23rd in Garden County, a WHITE-FACED IBIS, and large numbers of
WILLETS, AMERICAN AVOCETS and LONG-BILLED CURLEWS were found south of
Highway 2 on the road to Crescent Lake NWR.
In central Nebraska on the 26th in Buffalo County, a WHITE-WINGED DOVE and
2 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were found in central Kearney. On the 24th, a
CHUCK-WILL'S WIDOW was heard singing along the Platte River near the Rowe Sanctuary.
