Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, September 11th.

In western Nebraska in Kimball County on the 7th at Oliver Reservoir, a
DUSKY FLYCATCHER, a LEAST FLYCATCHER, 2 CASSIN'S VIREOS, a PHILADELPHIA
VIREO, 3 TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS, a BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER and 2 WESTERN
TANAGERS were seen. Also on the 7th, 4 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were
seen in Bushnell.

In central Nebraska in Buffalo County on the 7th, 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS
were seen 3 miles west of Kearney.

In Phelps County on the 9th at Funk Lagoon, a GREAT EGRET, a COOPER'S
HAWK, 4 SORAS, 2 MARSH WRENS, 4 CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS and about 300
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were found.

In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County on the 10th in Bellevue, a
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH and a PHILADELPHIA VIREO were seen at Camp Wakonda
south of Fontenelle Forest. On the 9th, an immature LITTLE BLUE HERON and
3 OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS were found in Fontenelle Forest.

In Burt County on the 8th at Summit Lake the following species were
found: 3 HORNED GREBES, a GREAT EGRET, an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, a
SWAINSON'S THRUSH, 2 BELL'S VIREOS, 3 NASHVILLE WARBLERS, a
BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER, a MOURNING WARBLER and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW.
On the 7th, 2 PHILADELPHIA VIREOS were seen at Summit Lake.

In Douglas County on the 8th, 12 species of warblers were found in
Douglas and Washington Counties. A BROAD-WINGED HAWK and a BLACK-THROATED
GREEN WARBLER were seen at Hummel Park in north Omaha and on the 7th, a
YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was seen there. In Washington County on the
8th, a MAGNOLIA WARBLER, a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, a PROTHONOTARY WARBLER and
a MOURNING WARBLER were found at Neale Woods on the Missouri River
Ecology Trail. Also on the 8th, 53 PIED-BILLED GREBES and 4 EARED GREBES
were found at Cunningham Lake north of Omaha.

In Platte County on the 9th north of Columbus, a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, 2
PIPING PLOVERS, 15 SANDERLINGS, a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, 10 LEAST
SANDPIPERS, 3 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS and 5 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS were found
at Lake North.

In Cass County on the 8th, 74 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, 65 TURKEY
VULTURES, 2 BALD EAGLES and 2 SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS were seen from the tower
at Platte River State Park.

In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 8th, a CASPIAN TERN and 7 species of
shorebirds including 8 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS and 3 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were
found at the MidAmerican south pond.
