Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, April 2nd.
In central Nebraska in Phelps County on the 31st, an AMERICAN GOLDEN
PLOVER, 49 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 122 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, a DUNLIN, 11
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 2 WILSON'S PHALAROPES were found at Funk Lagoon.
On the 31st , 3 EARED GREBES and 2 FIELD SPARROWS were seen at
Sacramento-Wilcox WMA.
In Kearney County on the 30th, 4 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, a LESSER YELLOWLEGS,
3 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS and 6 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were seen at Jensen WPA.
In eastern Nebraska in Seward County on the 31st, a COMMON LOON, an EARED
GREBE, 3 HORNED GREBES, 2 PIED-BILLED GREBES and a GREATER SCAUP were found
at Twin Lakes SWMA.
In Lancaster County on the 30th, a COOPER'S HAWK, a MERLIN, 14 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS and a NORTHERN SHRIKE were seen at Branched Oak Lake. Also on
the 30th, a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen in northern Lancaster County.
In Platte County on the 31st north of Columbus, a LINCOLN'S SPARROW and 2
WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen at feeders across from Lake North.
Also on the 31st, 18 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, 2 SWAN sp., 2 BALD EAGLES and
a FRANKLIN'S GULL were seen at Lake Babcock and Lake North.
In Sarpy County on the 2nd in Bellevue, an EASTERN PHOEBE, 4
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS and 3 FOX SPARROWS were found in Fontenelle Forest.
In Douglas County on the 29th, WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS continued to visit
feeders south of Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
In the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 30th, 54 SANDHILL CRANES (most at
Harvard Marsh), 41 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 8 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 3
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and a COMMON SNIPE were found.
In Clay County on the 30th, a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was seen at Geneva.
Also on the 30th, 104 GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES were seen at Eckhardt WPA.
In western Nebraska on the 26th in Sheridan County, 5 SHARP-TAILED GROUSE
and a MERLIN were seen south of Hay Springs. Also seen in Sheridan County
were a BALD EAGLE, a GOLDEN EAGLE and a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK. In Dawes County
on the 26th, 3 BALD EAGLES and 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were found.
