Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, December 7th.

In western Nebraska on the 3rd and 4th in Keith County at Lake McConaughy,
a male TUFTED DUCK was seen just above the Keystone diversion dam at the
east end of Keystone Lake. Other species seen at Lake McConaughy, Lake
Ogallala and Keystone Lake on the 3rd and 4th were: a RED-NECKED GREBE, a
CLARK'S GREBE, 52 GREATER SCAUP, 4 SURF SCOTERS, a BLACK SCOTER, 2
LONG-TAILED DUCKS, a male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE, a POMARINE JAEGER, a WINTER
WREN and a NORTHERN PARULA. Also on the 3rd, 68 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were
seen north of Roscoe. On the 5th, over 50 GREATER SCAUPS, 4 SURF
SCOTERS, 3 BLACK SCOTERS, 6 LONG-TAILED DUCKS, a BARROW'S GOLDENEYE and 8
HOODED MERGANSERS were found at Lake Ogallala, but the TUFTED DUCK was
not found.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 2nd, a CLARK'S GREBE was found at Lake
Minatare and on the 4th, 12 ROSS'S GEESE were seen there.

In Lincoln County on the 3rd, an adult THAYER'S GULL was seen at
Sutherland Reservoir.

In eastern Nebraska in Burt County on the 4th, an immature WHITE-WINGED
CROSSBILL was seen in the Tekamah cemetery.

In Washington County on the 4th, 2 HOODED MERGANSERS were found in the
Herman sewage ponds.

in Douglas County on the 3rd, a HOODED MERGANSER was found at Cunningham
Lake. In Sarpy County on the 4th, 3 HORNED GREBES were seen at Wehrspann Lake.

In Lancaster County on the 4th, 12 HORNED GREBES, a GREATER SCAUP and 9
COMMON MERGANSERS were seen at Pawnee Lake.

In Iowa north of Crescent on the 5th, 51 BALD EAGLES, 4 ROUGH-LEGGED
HAWKS and a FERRUGINOUS HAWK were seen at the hawk watch at Hitchcock
Nature Area.
