Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, December 13th.

In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County on the 12th, 14 species of waterfowl
were found at Chalco Hills Recreation Area including 2 immature TUNDRA
SWANS, a female LONG-TAILED DUCK and 3 HOODED MERGANSERS. On the 10th
south of Bellevue, a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was spotted at the northwest end
of the Offutt Air Force Base runway.

In central Nebraska on the 13th in Buffalo County an immature BALD EAGLE
was spotted at the north end of the Fort Kearny hike-bike trail. Six
miles north of the Platte River along the Phelps/Kearney County line a
PRAIRIE FALCON was seen. Also on the 13th a NORTHERN SHRIKE was found
2.5 miles east of Kearney. On the 9th in Hall County, 2 ROUGH-LEGGED
HAWKS, an adult NORTHERN GOSHAWK, a COMMON SNIPE, 7 GOLDEN-CROWNED
KINGLETS and 2 PURPLE FINCHES were seen at Crane Meadows Nature Center. On
the 7th, 12 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS, 8 BROWN CREEPERS and a RED-BREASTED
NUTHATCH were seen at Hall County Park.

In western Nebraska on the 8th in Keith County 12 species of waterfowl
were seen on Keystone Lake including 42 GREATER SCAUP, a BLACK SCOTER and 2
LONG-TAILED DUCKS. Also seen on the 8th, were 11 WESTERN GREBES on Lake
Ogallala and 7 CALIFORNIA GULLS on Arthur Bay at Lake McConaughy.

In Lincoln County on the 8th, 1700 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, a GREATER SCAUP and
400 COMMON GOLDENEYES were found at the North Platte Sewage Lagoons. In
Cottonwood Canyon south of Maxwell on the 8th, a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, a
PRAIRIE FALCON, 8 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS and 68 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were found.
