Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, December 31st.

In western Nebraska on the 27th and 28th in Keith County the TUFTED DUCK
was seen again on Keystone Lake. Other species seen in the area on the
27th include a 4 WESTERN GREBES, 40 GREATER SCAUP, 3 LONG-TAILED DUCKS, a
SURF SCOTER, a BARROW'S GOLDENEYE and a CALIFORNIA GULL. A CLARK'S GREBE
was seen on the 28th on Lake Ogallala. On the 30th, 20 KILLDEER were
found at Keystone Dam. Also on the 30th, 5 CALIFORNIA GULLS were seen at
Arthur Bay at Lake McConaughy.

In eastern Nebraska on the 30th in Seward County, 2 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS
were seen 7 miles east of Seward and a mile south of Highway 34.

On the 30th in Douglas County at Neale Woods, a BROWN THRASHER was seen
around the Nature Center.

In central Nebraska in Loup County on the 28th, 15 BALD EAGLES, 2
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, a PRAIRIE FALCON, 30 GREATER PRAIRIE-CHICKENS, a few
SHARP-TAILED GROUSE, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, BROWN CREEPERS and 2 MARSH
WRENS were seen on the Calamus Reservoir CBC.

In Buffalo County on the 30th, a MERLIN was seen on a power pole at 39th
Street and 2nd Avenue in Kearney.
