Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, November 16th.
In western Nebraska on the 13th in Scotts Bluff County, 3 first-basic
PACIFIC LOONS and a CLARK'S GREBE were found at Lake Minatare; 81 HOODED
MERGANSERS were found at the North Platte NWR complex, and an adult
CALIFORNIA GULL was seen at Lake Alice. Also on the 13th, 2 LEAST
SANDPIPERS were seen west of Mitchell. In Kimball County on the 13th, 2
AMERICAN PIPITS and 400 LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen at Oliver Reservoir.
In Sioux County on the 13th in Sowbelly Canyon a MERLIN, 12 PYGMY
NUTHATCHES and 10 TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES were found. On the 13th, 2
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were seen between Harrison and Crawford. Also on the
13th, a NORTHERN SHRIKE was spotted in Smiley Canyon.
In Sheridan County on the 13th, 2 PRAIRIE FALCONS and 10 BREWER'S
BLACKBIRDS were seen in a feedlot at Antioch. In Garden County on the
13th, a FERRUGINOUS HAWK, a PRAIRIE FALCON and a MARSH WREN were seen at
Crescent Lake NWR.
In central Nebraska in Gosper County on the 14th, a PACIFIC LOON, 3
HORNED GREBES, 20 LESSER SCAUPS, 6 BUFFLEHEADS, 6 HOODED MERGANSERS, 5
COMMON MERGANSERS and LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen at Johnson Lake.
In Buffalo County on the 14th, a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, a PRAIRIE FALCON and a
BREWER'S BLACKBIRD were seen at Rowe Audubon Sanctuary.
In the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 14th, 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, a
FERRUGINOUS HAWK, a PRAIRIE FALCON, 13 KILLDEER and 5 GREATER YELLOWLEGS
were found.
In eastern Nebraska in Lancaster County on the 14th at Branched Oak Lake,
8 COMMON LOONS, a HORNED GREBE, 7 HOODED MERGANSERS, a DUNLIN, 6
BONAPARTE'S GULLS and 7 HERRING GULLS were seen. On the 14th at Pawnee
Lake, a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER and a HERRING GULL were found. On the 12th,
a HERMIT THRUSH was seen at Spring Creek Prairie south of Denton.
In Seward County on the 14th, a HERMIT THRUSH was found at Oak Glen WMA
north of Garland.
In Douglas County on the 14th at Neale Woods, over 1,000 SNOW GEESE (in
several small flocks), 11 BALD EAGLES, 6 SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS, a NORTHERN
HARRIER and 40 RED-TAILED HAWKS were seen.
