Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, November 22nd.
In western Nebraska on the 19th in Keith County, 3 juvenile POMARINE
JAEGERS were seen on Lake McConaughy. Also on the 19th, an immature
RED-NECKED GREBE, 27 GREATER SCAUP, 2 female/immature SURF SCOTERS, 2
female/immature BLACK SCOTERS, an adult male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE, 4 WINTER
WRENS, a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW were seen at Lake Ogallala.
In Lincoln County on the 19th, 12 ROSS'S GEESE and an adult THAYER'S GULL
were seen at Sutherland Reservoir.
In central Nebraska on the 22nd in Harlan County an AMERICAN WHITE
PELICAN, about 1,200 SNOW GEESE, 7 BALD EAGLES, 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS and 24
BONAPARTE'S GULLS were seen at Harlan Reservoir.
In eastern Kearney County on the 21st, a PRAIRIE FALCON was spotted 2
miles north of Norman.
In eastern Nebraska in Douglas County on the 21st, a COMMON LOON and 2
HOODED MERGANSERS were found on Lake Zorinsky. On the 20th, 6 COMMON
MERGANSERS were seen on Lonergan Lake north of Omaha. On the 20th, 3
BROWN CREEPERS and a WINTER WREN were seen in Hummel Park.
In Sarpy County on the 21st, 6 HORNED GREBES, and several species of ducks,
including 22 BUFFLEHEADS, were seen at Wehrspann Lake.
In Burt County on the 21st, a male WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL was seen in the
Tekamah Cemetery.
In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 21st, an immature PLEGADIS (IBIS)
sp. was seen north of Lake Manawa in a small marsh on the north side of
Highway 92, across the road from Black Squirrel Antiques. On the 19th
north of Crescent, 25 BALD EAGLES and 5 GOLDEN EAGLES were seen migrating
past Hitchcock Nature Area.
