Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Wednesday, November 8th.

In western Nebraska on the 1st in Lincoln County, a CLARK'S GREBE and an
adult THAYER'S GULL were seen at Sutherland Reservoir. On the 2nd in
Keith County, a SURF SCOTER , 4 immature BLACK SCOTERS, a 4th-basic
LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, a RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER and a WINTER WREN were
found at Lake Ogallala, and an adult THAYER'S GULL was seen on Lake
McConaughy. On the 1st, 12 species of shorebirds were found at Lake
McConaughy including 30 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 7 AMERICAN AVOCETS, 3
SANDERLINGS, 15 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 6 DUNLINS and 55 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 2nd, 2 PACIFIC LOONS, 7 CLARK'S GREBES and a
ROSS'S GOOSE were found at Lake Minatare.

In central Nebraska on the 4th in Sherman County, 2 COMMON LOONS, 3
HORNED GREBES, 400 REDHEADS, 60 LESSER SCAUP, 16 HOODED MERGANSERS, 256
RUDDY DUCKS, 2 COOPER'S HAWKS and 2379 SANDHILL CRANES were found at
Sherman Reservoir.

In eastern Nebraska in Dodge County on the 7th, a MERLIN and 12 SANDHILL
CRANES were seen northwest of Ames and several flocks of LAPLAND LONGSPURS
were seen between Hooper and Ames.

In Lancaster County on the 4th at Branched Oak Lake, 10 HORNED GREBES, 2
WESTERN GREBES, 1000 REDHEADS, 1000 LESSER SCAUP, 500 RUDDY DUCKS and 2
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were seen. At Pawnee Lake on the 4th, an AMERICAN
AVOCET was spotted. On the 8th, 150 SANDHILL CRANES were seen flying
over Spring Creek Prairie south of Denton. On the 7th, a FOX SPARROW was
seen at Spring Creek Prairie and on the 6th 15 AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS were seen there.

In Sarpy County on the 5th, a WESTERN GREBE, CANVASBACKS, LESSER SCAUP and
REDHEADS were found at Wehrspann Lake. On the 3rd and 4th, a female
BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK visited a feeder on Underwood St. in Omaha.

In Otoe County on the 5th, 3 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES and 7 BROWN CREEPERS
were found at Arbor Lodge State Park in Nebraska City.

In Clay County on the 4th, 175 BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS were seen at east
Harvard Basin. In York County on the 4th, an EARED GREBE was spotted at
Sinninger WPA. Other sightings on the 4th in the eastern Rainwater Basin
were: a few flocks of 75-100 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, a PRAIRIE
FALCON, 35 SANDHILL CRANES, 12 KILLDEER, 3 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 4 PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, 2 DUNLINS and 9 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS.
