Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, October 10th.

In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County on the 8th, a WESTERN GREBE, 2
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, RING-NECKED DUCKS, a female HOODED
MERGANSER, a STILT SANDPIPER and 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS were seen at Wehrspann
Lake northwest of Papillion. On the 6th, 2 PILEATED WOODPECKERS were
spotted in a yard on Washington Street in south Bellevue.

In Lancaster County on the 10th, at Pioneers Park in Lincoln, a CAROLINA
WREN, GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, NASHVILLE WARBLERS
and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were seen. On the 7th at Holmes Lake in
Lincoln, 2 SORAS were seen. At Branched Oak Lake on the 8th, 2 WESTERN
GREBES and a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD were seen and on the 7th, an immature BALD
EAGLE was found there. At Pawnee Lake on the 7th, 6 species of
shorebirds were seen including a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER and 3 COMMON SNIPES.
On the 8th at Jack Sinn WMA, 3 MARSH WRENS, a LE CONTE'S SPARROW and 3
SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS were found.

In Saunders County on the 8th at Memphis Lakes SRA, 329 KILLDEER, 25
LEAST SANDPIPERS, 12 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 8 STILT SANDPIPERS , 9
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 7 COMMON SNIPES and 12 BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS were seen.

In Dodge County on the 9th, 12 AMERICAN PIPITS were found at a farm pond
northwest of Ames.

In Burt County on the 5th, 2 SANDERLINGS and 2 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS were seen
at Summit Lake southwest of Tekamah.

In central Nebraska in Buffalo County on the 5th, 60 SANDHILL CRANES were
seen flying over Kearney.

In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 10th, 2 WESTERN GREBES and an
immature SABINE'S GULL were were seen at Lake Manawa.
