Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, October 20th.

In western Nebraska in Keith County on the 14th and 15th, the REDDISH EGRET
was seen again at Lake McConaughy. Also seen at Lake McConaughy on the
15th were, a GOLDEN EAGLE, 9 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS, 3 AMERICAN AVOCETS,
40 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 160 STILT SANDPIPERS and 14 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS. Two
GREAT EGRETS and 2 PRAIRIE FALCONS were also seen there on the 14th. On
the 15th at Lake Ogallala 2 COMMON LOONS and an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED
GULL were found and on the 14th, an adult male BLACK SCOTER was seen there.

In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County on the 18th, a WESTERN GREBE, a
PECTORAL SANDPIPER, 3 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 6 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, a
WINTER WREN, 2 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS, a COMMON YELLOWTHROAT and 2 SPOTTED
TOWHEES were found at Chalco Hills Recreation Area northwest of
Papillion. Also on the 18th, a RED CROSSBILL was seen and heard flying
over Wehrspann Lake. In Bellevue on the 17th, a WINTER WREN visited a
backyard near Bellevue University. On the 16th in Bellevue, 12 LINCOLN'S
SPARROWS, a FOX SPARROW, 2 SWAMP SPARROWS and a HARRIS'S SPARROW were found
in Fontenelle Forest.

In Knox County on the 14th, an immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK was spotted near Niobrara.

In Dodge County on the 17th, 70 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, a SAVANNAH
SPARROW, a LE CONTE'S SPARROW and a HARRIS'S SPARROW were found northwest of Ames.

In Lancaster County on the 14th at Branched Oak Lake, an immature BALD
EAGLE and 16 AMERICAN AVOCETS were found, and on the 13th, a WESTERN GREBE and
3 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were seen there. At Pawnee Lake on the 14th, a
GREAT EGRET, 205 KILLDEER, 2 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, a STILT SANDPIPER, 3
PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 4 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 25 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 3
FORSTER'S TERNS and 7 AMERICAN PIPITS were seen. On the 13th at Pawnee
Lake, 2 juvenile COMMON TERNS were seen with 11 FORSTER'S TERNS. At
Arbor Lake on the 14th, a SEDGE WREN was found. On the 15th, 40 AMERICAN
AVOCETS were seen at Stagecoach Lake south of Hickman.

In the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 13th and 14th, 2 WHITE-FACED/plegadis
IBIS, 80 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 40 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS, 12
LEAST SANDPIPERS, 3 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 38 STILT SANDPIPERS , 79
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 29 COMMON SNIPES, 6 GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES and 4
BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS were seen.

In Clay County on the 13th and 14th, a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was seen in
Sutton. Also seen over the week-end were 12 SPOTTED TOWHEES at Sandpiper WMA.

In central Nebraska in Harlan County on the 14th, 3 WESTERN GREBES and a
juvenile SABINE'S GULL were found at Harlan Reservoir.

In Phelps County on the 14th at Funk Lagoon, 2 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 7
AMERICAN AVOCETS, 3 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 22 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 12 PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, 205 STILT SANDPIPERS, 410 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 2 BREWER'S
BLACKBIRDS were found.

In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 17th, 1st winter HERRING GULL was
seen at Lake Manawa.
