Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, October 31st.

In western Nebraska on the 26th in Keith County, 4 GREATER SCAUPS, 4
immature BLACK SCOTERS, a 4th-basic LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, A RED-NAPED
SAPSUCKER, a HERMIT THRUSH and a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW were found at Lake
Ogallala. On the 25th, a PACIFIC LOON, an EASTERN PHOEBE, a WILSON'S
WARBLER and a SWAMP SPARROW were found at Lake Ogallala. Also on the 25th,
a WHITE-EYED VIREO and a WINTER WREN were seen at Cedar Point Biological
Station. On the 25th and 26th, 12 species of shorebirds were found at Lake
McConaughy including 43 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER,
20 AMERICAN AVOCETS, 56 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 7 DUNLINS and 237 LONG-BILLED
DOWITCHERS. In Garden County on the 25th, a PYGMY NUTHATCH was seen.

In eastern Nebraska in Lancaster County on the 29th at Branched Oak Lake,
2 WESTERN GREBES, an OSPREY, and 150 FRANKLIN'S GULLS were seen. At Pawnee
Lake on the 29th, a DUNLIN and 11 BONAPARTE'S GULLS were spotted.

On the 28th and 29th in the eastern Rainwater Basin the following species
were noted: 3 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, a LEAST SANDPIPER,
4 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 2 STILT SANDPIPERS and 32 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS.
In Clay County over the week-end, a PRAIRIE FALCON was seen at Hultine WPA.

In Nemaha County on the 21st, a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was spotted on the
Steamboat Trace between Peru and Brownville.

In Washington County on the 23rd, 2 WINTER WRENS and a HERMIT THRUSH were
found in a yard in Blair.
