Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Thursday, September 21st.

In western Nebraska on the 20th in Scotts Bluff County, a molting adult
ARCTIC TERN was seen at Lake Minatare with a juvenile FORSTER'S TERN.
Also seen there were a COMMON LOON and 2 juvenile SABINE'S GULLS.

In Kimball County on the 20th, a DUSKY FLYCATCHER, a TOWNSEND'S WARBLER and
a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH were found at Oliver Reservoir. On the 21st, a
TOWNSEND'S WARBLER and 3 GREEN-TAILED TOWHEES were seen in southwestern
Kimball County.

In Dawes County on the 20th, a YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON, an AMERICAN
GOLDEN- PLOVER and a COMMON TERN were found at Box Butte Reservoir.

In Keith County on the 21st, a PEREGRINE FALCON, an AMERICAN
GOLDEN-PLOVER, 108 SANDERLINGS, 8 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, a juvenile
SABINE'S GULL and a COMMON TERN were seen at Lake McConaughy.

In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County on the 19th, a MISSISSIPPI KITE was
seen sitting on wires near Logan Fontenelle School in Bellevue and another
was seen flying south of the Bellevue library. On the 20th south of
Bellevue, 475 PIED-BILLED GREBES and 7 CATTLE EGRETS were seen at Offutt
Lake. In Douglas County on the 20th, a VIRGINIA RAIL was seen in Omaha
in the driveway of the University Medical Center.

In Lancaster County on the 16th at Wilderness Park in Lincoln, 3 CAROLINA
WRENS, a SWAINSON'S THRUSH, 2 WILSON'S WARBLERS and an ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLER were found. Also on the 26th, 2 BONAPARTE'S GULLS and a NELSON'S
SHARP-TAILED SPARROW were seen at Pawnee Lake. On the 16th at Branched
Oak Lake, 2 OSPREYS, 500 FRANKLIN'S GULLS and 3 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were
found and on the 17th, 2 CASPIAN TERNS were found there.

In Clay County on the 16th and 17th, a LITTLE BLUE HERON, a SHARP-SHINNED
HAWK, a COOPER'S HAWK, a MERLIN, a BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER and a BELL'S VIREO
were seen at Sandpiper WPA.

In Platte County on the 16th, a MERLIN was seen north of Columbus at Lake North.

In central Nebraska in Harlan County on the 16th at Harlan Reservoir, a
juvenile PARASITIC JAEGER was seen near the dam. Also seen at Harlan
Reservoir were 6 HORNED GREBES, 4 SNOWY EGRETS, 16 GREAT EGRETS, 8
OSPREYS, 7 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS, 8 MARBLED GODWITS, 13 SANDERLINGS, 44
LEAST SANDPIPERS and 9 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS.

In Phelps County on the 16th, 7 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS and a WESTERN
KINGBIRD were seen at Funk WPA. Also on the 16th, 84 CATTLE EGRETS and 32
WHITE-FACED IBIS were seen at Sacramento-Wilcox WMA.

In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 20th, 60 GREAT EGRETS were found
at Lake Manawa. Also on the 20th, 14 CATTLE EGRETS, a SNOWY EGRET and a
CASPIAN TERN were seen at the Mid American south pond.
