Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Thursday, September 28th.

In western Nebraska on the 27th in Keith County, a REDDISH EGRET was seen
with a SNOWY EGRET and 5 GREAT EGRETS at the west end of Lake McConaughy.
The birds were in the middle of the lake south of Cedar Vue Campground.
Also on the 27th, 4 SABINE'S GULLS were seen from the dam at Lake
McConaughy. Other birds seen at Lake McConaughy were: a MERLIN, an
AMERICAN GOLDEN- PLOVER, a WILSON'S PHALAROPE, 9 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES and
4 COMMON TERNS.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 27th, a BONAPARTE'S GULL , a LESSER
BLACK-BACKED GULL, 2 SABINE'S GULLS and 3 COMMON TERNS were found at Lake
Minatare. In Kimball County on the 27th, a BROAD-WINGED HAWK was seen at
Oliver Reservoir.

In eastern Nebraska in Dodge County on the 22nd, a ROCK WREN was seen on
a farm north of Ames.

In Douglas County on the 24th at Cunningham Lake north of Omaha the
following birds were seen: 4 GREAT EGRETS, a SNOWY EGRET, 10 PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, a LEAST SANDPIPER, 2 OSPREYS and a PEREGRINE FALCON. In Sarpy
County on the 27th in Bellevue, a BLUE-HEADED VIREO, a NASHVILLE WARBLER,
an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER and a WILSON'S WARBLER
were seen in the Birdline backyard.

In Burt County on the 24th, 9 GREAT EGRETS, 2 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and a
STILT SANDPIPER were found at Summit Lake.

In Lancaster County on the 27th, 4 EASTERN PHOEBES, 2 SEDGE WRENS, 6
NASHVILLE WARBLERS, an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, a
LINCOLN'S SPARROW and a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW were found at Spring Creek
Prairie south of Denton.
At Pawnee Lake on the 23rd, a SNOW GOOSE, 2 STILT SANDPIPERS, 5 LEAST
SANDPIPERS, 2 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, a SANDERLING and 750 FRANKLIN'S GULLS
were found. At Branched Oak Lake on the 23rd, an OSPREY, a HERRING GULL
and a FORSTER'S TERN were seen. On the 23rdthe following were seen at
Wilderness Park in Lincoln: an EASTERN PHOEBE, 2 CAROLINA WRENS, a
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW.

In Dixon County on the 24th, a MERLIN and a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET were seen
northwest of Wakefield. In Knox County on the 25th, a juvenile
MISSISSIPPI KITE was seen 1 mile south of Center.

In central Nebraska in Buffalo County on the Rowe Sanctuary on the 24th,
300 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, an OSPREY, a MERLIN, 5 ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLERS, 13 WILSON'S WARBLERS, 2 CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS and 6 WHITE-CROWNED
SPARROWS were found.

In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 24th, 2 GREAT EGRETS, about 1,000
DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, an OSPREY, 2 DUNLINS, 45 FRANKLIN'S GULLS and a
CASPIAN TERN were seen at the Mid American south pond.
