Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Saturday, April 15th.

In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County on the 15th, a GREAT EGRET and a
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD were found at Walnut Creek Recreation Area. On
the 14th in Bellevue in Fontenelle Forest, a HOUSE WREN, a NORTHERN
PARULA and a LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH were seen. On the 14th, a CHIPPING
SPARROW was seen in a yard south of Bellevue University. Also on the
14th, BONAPARTE'S GULLS were seen on Offutt Lake south of Bellevue. On
the 12th at Chalco Hills Recreation Area, a FOX SPARROW and 2 SWAMP
SPARROWS were found.

In Douglas County on the 14th, a BROWN THRASHER was seen at Dodge Park in
Omaha. On the 11th, 9 AMERICAN AVOCETS, 7 PURPLE MARTINS and 2 FIELD
SPARROWS were found on the small lake at 144th and F Streets in Omaha. On
the 12th, 18 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS and an OSPREY were spotted along the
north shore of Carter Lake.

In Pawnee County on the 14th, a COMMON LOON, 2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS and 4
COMMON SNIPES were found at Burchard Lake. At the junction of the spur
to Steinauer and Highway 50, a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen.

In Johnson County on the 14th, 3 HORNED GREBES, 7 species of waterfowl, 8
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, a LESSER YELLOWLEGS and 30 BONAPARTE'S GULLS were seen
at the Tecumseh sewage pond.

In central Nebraska in Harlan County on the 13th, 10 species of ducks, 2
FORSTER'S TERNS, CLIFF SWALLOWS, BARN SWALLOWS and VESPER SPARROWS were
seen at Harlan Reservoir.

In Buffalo County on the 12th, about 100 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS were
seen on an island in a sandpit along I-80 near the Gibbon Exit. Also on
the 12th, an OSPREY was seen flying one mile west of the Gibbon I-80
Exit. On the 13th, several VESPER SPARROWS were seen 3 miles southeast
of Gibbon, and on the 11th, a SWAINSON'S HAWK was spotted there. On the
10th, 10 PURPLE MARTINS were seen in Kearney. On the 11th, a GREAT EGRET
was seen just south of Kearney. Also on the 11th, 300 AMERICAN WHITE
PELICANS were seen on a small lake just south of Ravenna.

In Phelps County on the 11th, a MARBLED GODWIT was found at Funk Lagoon.

In western Nebraska on the 10th in Cherry County, a BURROWING OWL was
seen at Fort Niobrara NWR. On the 12th, many SHARP-TAILED GROUSE and
GREATER PRAIRIE CHICKENS and a SAY'S PHOEBE were seen at Fort Niobrara NWR.
