Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, August 25th.

In eastern Nebraska in Clay County on the 20th , a BEWICK'S WREN and 19
BALTIMORE ORIOLES were spotted at the Lange WPA woodlot. In Sutton, 3
EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were seen near the Skyliner Cafe. A CAROLINA
WREN was heard singing on the 20that the Geneva Cemetery. Also on the
20th, a NASHVILLE WARBLER, a WILSON'S WARBLER and a CANADA WARBLER were
seen at the McMurtrey woodlot in western Clay County. Other species seen
throughout the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 20th were: 24 GREAT EGRETS,
a SNOWY EGRET, 2 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, 17 plegadis IBIS species, 2
SANDHILL CRANES, 15 species of shorebirds including 12 BUFF-BREASTED
SANDPIPERS, 3 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 2 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS.

In Dixon County on the 20th, 2 SAY'S PHOEBES were seen northwest of
Wakefield. At Ponca State Park on the 20th, 2 OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS, a
SPOTTED TOWHEE and 14 BALTIMORE ORIOLES were found.

In Douglas County on the 20th, 32 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, an OSPREY and a
BREWER'S BLACKBIRD were seen at Zorinsky Lake in Omaha. In Sarpy County
in Bellevue on the 23rd, 300 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS and an OSPREY were
seen flying over Haworth Park.

In Washington County on the 18th, a CANADA WARBLER was seen at Neale
Woods on the Missouri River Ecology Trail. Ten species of shorebirds
were found at Nathan's Lake last week including a BUFF- BREASTED
SANDPIPER seen on the 18th.

In central Nebraska in Phelps County on the 20th at Funk Lagoon, 14
PIED-BILLED GREBES, an AMERICAN BITTERN, a GREAT EGRET, 7 BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT-HERONS, 3 7 plegadis IBIS sp., 12 BLACK TERNS and 2 SWAMP SPARROWS
were found. Also on the 20th at Johnson WPA, 2 AMERICAN BITTERNS, a
BLACK TERN, a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE, a SEDGE WREN and a BLUE GROSBEAK were found.

In western Nebraska in Scotts Bluff County on the 19th, a PYGMY NUTHATCH,
a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, SPOTTED TOWHEES, PINE SISKINS and RED CROSSBILLS
were found at Wildcat Hills Nature Center.

In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 22nd, 2 WESTERN GREBES and an
AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN were found at Lake Manawa.
