Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Wednesday, February 2nd.

In western Nebraska on the 29th in Keith County, 3 RED-NECKED GREBES, 7
CLARK'S GREBES, 262 WESTERN GREBES, a DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, an adult
GLAUCOUS GULL and a first-basic THAYER'S GULL were found at Lake
McConaughy. Also on the 29th at Lake Ogallala 74 GREATER SCAUP, 4
OLDSQUAWS, 2 BARROW'S GOLDENEYES, an adult BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE, 2
GLAUCOUS GULLS and an adult THAYER'S GULL were seen.

In Lincoln County on the 29th, 4 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS and 5 THAYER'S
GULLS were seen at Sutherland Reservoir.

In central Nebraska in Gosper County on the 30th at Johnson Lake, 400
COMMON GOLDENEYES, 3 HOODED MERGANSERS, 40 BALD EAGLES and a third year
LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL were seen.

In Buffalo County, a NORTHERN GOSHAWK, previously reported as a
Gyrfalcon, was seen near the Fort Kearny Hike-Bike Trail on the 24th.

In Harlan County on the 23rd the following species were found at Harlan
Reservoir: 3 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, 5 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, a
ROSS'S GOOSE, 4 HOODED MERGANSERS, 2 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, 32,000
COMMON MERGANSERS, a FRANKLIN'S GULL, 3 GLAUCOUS GULLS and 4 THAYER'S
GULLS. A possible adult SLATY-BACKED GULL was seen there on the 22nd.

In eastern Nebraska in Knox County on the 30th, an immature TUNDRA SWAN
was seen on the Missouri River at Niobrara State Park.

In Douglas County on the 1st, 1 immature and 5 adult TRUMPETER SWANS,
previously reported as Tundra Swans, were seen at Carter Lake across from
Eppley Airport in Omaha. Also seen there on the 1st were a GREEN-WINGED
TEAL, 2 SNOW GEESE and 2 AMERICAN COOTS. A ROSS'S GOOSE was seen at Carter
Lake on the 31st. On the 30th, a NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on North River
Road near the Surfside Club. At Neale Woods on the 30th, a CAROLINA WREN
and 3 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS were seen. On the 1st, a BROWN THRASHER visited a
yard 4 miles southwest of Elkhorn.

In Lancaster County on the 2nd, 12 PURPLE FINCHES were seen at the Spring
Creek Prairie feeders south of Denton.
