Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, February 8th.

In western Nebraska on the 5th in Keith County, a COMMON LOON, a HORNED
GREBE, 2 RED-NECKED GREBES, a ROSS'S GOOSE and 10 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen
at Lake McConaughy. Also on the 5th, a male TUFTED DUCK, 62 GREATER
SCAUP, 6 OLDSQUAWS, 5 BARROW'S GOLDENEYES and an adult GLAUCOUS GULL were
seen on Lake Ogallala, and 6 adult TRUMPETER SWANS and 81 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS
were found below Keystone Dam.

In Garden County on the 5th, 9 VIRGINIA RAILS were seen at the Clear
Creek Marshes. In Deuel County on the 5th, more than 9,000 LAPLAND
LONGSPURS in 4 large flocks were seen along Highway 30.

In central Nebraska in Harlan County on the 5th, 2 AMERICAN WHITE
PELICANS, a DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, 3,000 COMMON MERGANSERS, 2 HOODED
MERGANSERS, 109 BALD EAGLES, 320 RING-BILLED GULLS and 9 HERRING GULLS were
seen. Also on the 5th, 76 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, 4 GREATER SCAUP, 2 LESSER
SCAUP and a CANVASBACK were found at the Alma Sewage Lagoons.

In Gosper County on the 5th, a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, 2 HOODED
MERGANSERS and 19 HERRING GULLS were found at Johnson Lake. In Franklin
County on the 6th, a COOPER'S HAWK was seen 2 miles northeast of Naponee.

In Buffalo County on the 6th, 12 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 3 SNOW
GEESE, a ROSS'S GOOSE, 4 REDHEADS and a CANVASBACK were seen at Grandpa's
Steakhouse in Kearney.

In eastern Nebraska in Seward County on the 4th, 3 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS
were seen a mile south of U.S. 34 approximately 7 miles east of Seward.
On the 5th, a COMMON REDPOLL visited a feeder 5 miles west of Seward.

In Dodge County on the 2nd, a RUSTY BLACKBIRD was seen in a flock of
RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS northwest of Ames.

In Douglas County on the 6th, 3 TRUMPETER SWANS were seen in a private
lake near Elkhorn. In Sarpy County on the 6th, an adult BALD EAGLE was
seen in a Papillion yard.

In Lancaster County on the 6th, a SNOW GOOSE, an AMERICAN WIGEON, a
NORTHERN PINTAIL and an adult BALD EAGLE were seen at Branched Oak Lake.

In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 6th, a NORTHERN PINTAIL, a pair of
OLDSQUAWS and a female HOODED MERGANSER were seen at the Mid-American south
settling pond.
