Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, February 21st.

In western Nebraska on the 19th at Lake Ogallala in Keith County, the
male TUFTED DUCK was seen again along with 55 GREATER SCAUP, 4 OLDSQUAW,
3 BARROW'S GOLDENEYES, 4 VIRGINIA RAILS and a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD. On
the 19th at Lake McConaughy, a RED-NECKED GREBE, 3 CLARK'S GREBES and 10
SNOW BUNTINGS were found. In Garden County 8 VIRGINIA RAILS and about 800
SANDHILL CRANES were seen at the Clear Creek Marshes, and 2 WINTER WRENS
were found at Ash Hollow State Park.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 20th, 4 ROSS'S GEESE, 16 HOODED MERGANSERS
and an AMERICAN COOT were seen at Winter's Creek Lake. At Kiowa WMA on the
20th, 9 ROSS'S GEESE, 2 VIRGINIA RAILS and a SWAMP SPARROW were found. In
southwest Sioux County on the 20th, 7 GRAY- CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES were
seen on the Henry Road.

In central Nebraska in Harlan County on the 20th, 10 DOUBLE-CRESTED
CORMORANTS, 2,000 SNOW GEESE, 60 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 16
CANVASBACKS, 40 REDHEADS, 3 HOODED MERGANSERS and a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER
were seen at Harlan Reservoir.

In Hall County on the 20th large flocks of SNOW GEESE and SANDHILL CRANES
were seen south of the Alda I-80 exit.

In eastern Nebraska in Dodge County on the 19th, 6 GRAY PARTRIDGES and 40
LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen on a farm northwest of Ames.

In Douglas County on the 20th at Cunningham Lake north of Omaha, a
THAYER'S GULL was spotted with RING-BILLED GULLS and HERRING GULLS. Also
seen at Cunningham Lake were a RING-NECKED DUCK and a HOODED MERGANSER. On
the 19th at Neale Woods Nature Center, a BROWN THRASHER, a WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW and 3 PURPLE FINCHES were seen at the feeders and on the 20th, 49
BALD EAGLES were seen flying north over Neale Woods. On the 19th, 6
TRUMPETER SWANS and 5 SNOW GEESE were found at Carter Lake across from
Eppley Airport.

In Washington County on the 17th, 60 BALD EAGLES were seen at Boyer Chute NWR.

In Sarpy County on the 20th at Chalco Hills Recreation Area, 6 NORTHERN
PINTAILS, 2 AMERICAN WIGEONS, a GADWALL, 15 REDHEADS, 4 SCAUP, 2
BUFFLEHEADS, 4 HOODED MERGANSERS and a HERRING GULL were seen. At Walnut
Creek Recreation Area, 4 REDHEADS and a BELTED KINGFISHER were found. On
the 20th, a GREAT BLUE HERON and a BELTED KINGFISHER were found at Schramm
State Park.

In Saline County on the 18th a PRAIRIE FALCON was spotted at the Walnut
Creek SRA north of Crete.

In Dixon County on the 19th, a NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on a farm
northwest of Wakefield. Also on the 19th, a Krider's RED-TAILED HAWK was
seen 0.5 mile west of the intersection of highways 35 and 9 north of Wakefield.
