Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, January 7th.

In western Nebraska on the 6th, the TUFTED DUCK was seen again at
Keystone Lake. Also seen on the 6th at Keystone were: 2 TRUMPETER SWANS,
an OLDSQUAW and GREATER SCAUP.

In central Nebraska on the 4th in Hall County, a CAROLINA WREN and a COMMON
REDPOLL were seen at the Crane Meadows Nature Center feeders. Also seen
on the 4th near the Nature Center were: a BELTED KINGFISHER, 7
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS, 3 BROWN CREEPERS, a SPOTTED TOWHEE, 16 HARRIS'S
SPARROWS and 5 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS.

In eastern Nebraska on the 5th in Cass County, 2 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were
seen with a flock of 600 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS near Elmwood.

In Iowa on the 6th, a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen again at a backyard
birdbath in Glenwood. For information call June Parks at 712-527-3406.
On the 6th south of Council Bluffs, a ROSS'S GOOSE, 2 SNOW GEESE, a
NORTHERN PINTAIL and 2 LESSER SCAUP were seen at the Mid-American ponds.
