Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, January 18th.

In eastern Nebraska in Madison County on the 15th, a WHITE-WINGED
CROSSBILL was found in the old Lutheran Cemetery in Norfolk.

On the 16th in Douglas County, 3 TUNDRA SWANS and 8 SNOW GEESE were seen on
Carter Lake across from Eppley Airport in Omaha. In Sarpy County on the
16th, a SLATE-COLORED JUNCO of the Gray-headed race was coming to a
feeder in Papillion.

In Dodge County on the 18th, 3 adult TRUMPETER SWANS were seen just
northwest of Scribner on the west side of Highway 275 in a cornfield
south of the intersection of Highway 275 and County Road E. One bird has a
green neck collar and a second bird has an orange wing tag.

In Lancaster County on the 16th at Branched Oak Lake, 2 AMERICAN BLACK
DUCKS, 16 HERRING GULLS, a WINTER WREN, 3 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, 10
BROWN CREEPERS, a NORTHERN SHRIKE and 4 PINE SISKINS were seen. On the
15th in Lincoln, 2 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, 3 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, 3
BROWN CREEPERS and 30 PINE SISKINS were seen at Pioneers' Park.

In Nemaha County on the 16th, a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, 3 RED-BREASTED
NUTHATCHES, 2 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS and 2 PINE SISKINS were seen at feeders at
Peru State College.

In central Nebraska on the 17th in Gosper County, 1200 RING-BILLED GULLS,
200 HERRING GULLS, 400 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 500 COMMON MERGANSERS, 60 BALD
EAGLES and a NORTHERN SHRIKE were found at Johnson Lake. In north central
Phelps County on the 17th, a PRAIRIE FALCON was seen.

In western Nebraska in Keith County on the 15th, a TUFTED DUCK, a SURF
SCOTER, a BLACK SCOTER, 3 OLDSQUAWS, 4 BARROW'S GOLDENEYES, a GREATER
YELLOWLEGS and a GLAUCOUS GULL were seen at Lake Ogallala. Also on the
15th, a HERMIT THRUSH, 14 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS and 11 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were
found below Kingsley Dam, and a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was seen below
Keystone Dam. On the 16th, 2 RED-NECKED GREBES were seen on Lake
McConaughy and a SURF SCOTER, 5 OLDSQUAWS, 3 BARROW'S GOLDENEYES and an adult
THAYER'S GULL were found on Lake Ogallala. In Garden County on the 15th,
a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD and 10 GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES were seen at the Clear
Creek marshes.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 16th, a GOLDEN EAGLE was seen near Gering.
On the 16th, a ROSS'S GOOSE and a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE were seen at
Lake Minatare. In Sioux County on the 15th, 7 GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES
were seen on the Henry Road. On the 17th, 11 RED CROSSBILLS were found
in Monroe Canyon and 4 were found in Sowbelly Canyon. Also on the 17th, 3
NORTHERN SHRIKES and 38 PYGMY NUTHATCHES were seen in Sioux County and 13
PYGMY NUTHATCHES and 4 NORTHERN SHRIKES were seen in Dawes County.

In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 15th, a ROSS'S GOOSE, a SNOW
GOOSE, 2 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 2 LESSER SCAUP and a female HOODED MERGANSER
were found at the MidAmerican south pond. In Glenwood on the 16th, the
NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen again at a birdbath. For information call
