Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Saturday, January 29th.

In eastern Nebraska in Saline County on the 24th, a MERLIN was seen
hunting over sandpits southeast of Wilber. Also on the 24th, 2 NORTHERN
SHRIKES were seen northwest of Crete.

On the 27th in Douglas County, 6 TUNDRA SWANS, a ROSS'S GOOSE, 2 SNOW
GEESE and an AMERICAN COOT were found at Carter Lake across from Eppley
Airport in Omaha. On the 26th, a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, a SONG SPARROW, a
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, a HARRIS'S SPARROW, PINE SISKINS and PURPLE FINCHES
were seen at the Neale Woods feeders.

In Lancaster County on the 25th, 3 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were seen 7 miles
east of Seward and 7/10 of a mile south of Highway 34.

In central Nebraska in Buffalo County on the 24th, a subadult Goshawk
was seen near the Fort Kearney Hike-Bike Trail. On the 29th, a LINCOLN'S
SPARROW and 2 SONG SPARROWS were seen at a feeder 3 miles southeast of Gibbon.

In Kearney County on the 22nd, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES and a GOLDEN-CROWNED
KINGLET were seen near Ravenna.

In Iowa in Glenwood the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD is still visiting a backyard
