Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Saturday, July 8th.
In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County in Bellevue on the 4th, 6 PILEATED
WOODPECKERS were seen at the Great Marsh in Fontenelle Forest. On the
2nd at Schramm State Park, a KENTUCKY WARBLER was seen.
In Saline County on the 5th, a GREATER PRAIRIE-CHICKEN and a LARK SPARROW
were found at Olive Creek SRA.
In Lancaster County on the 2nd , 4 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS and a COMMON
MERGANSER were seen at Branched Oak Lake. On the 1st, UPLAND SANDPIPERS
were found on the North Park Road at the north end of the Lincoln Airport runway.
The following species were seen on the 2nd in the eastern Rainwater
Basin: 3 WHITE-FACED IBIS, 16 CATTLE EGRETS, 2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 6
LESSER YELLOWLEGS, a SOLITARY SANDPIPER, a WILLET, a SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPER and a PECTORAL SANDPIPER.
In central Nebraska on the 6th in Harlan County, an AMERICAN AVOCET, a
SWAINSON'S THRUSH, 7 LOGGERHEAD SHRIKES and a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD were
found at Harlan Reservoir.
In Buffalo County on the 3rd, a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, a WILLOW
FLYCATCHER, 23 BOBOLINKS and 10 ORCHARD ORIOLES were found at the Rowe
Sanctuary. On the 1st in Hamilton County, an UPLAND SANDPIPER, a
SPOTTED TOWHEE, 20 SONG SPARROWS and a BLUE GROSBEAK were found at Springer WPA.
