Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, June 2nd.

In central Nebraska on the 28th in Harlan County, 2 NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRDS
were found 5 miles northeast of Orleans. Also on the 28th, 40 FRANKLIN'S
GULLS, 60 BLACK TERNS, 3 CEDAR WAXWINGS and a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT were
seen in Harlan County.

In Kearney County on the 28th, a BLUE GROSBEAK was spotted about 4 miles
west of Heartwell.

In eastern Nebraska in Lancaster County on the 27th, an adult MISSISSIPPI
KITE was seen along the John Dietrich Trail near 84th St. in Lincoln. On
the 28th, a COMMON LOON and 9 BLACK TERNS were found at Oak Lake in
Lincoln. Also on the 28th, 6 WILLOW FLYCATCHERS and 3 BELL'S VIREOS were
seen at Capitol Beach.

In Platte County on the 28th the following birds were spotted at Lake
North: 2 WESTERN GREBES, 2 EARED GREBES, 2 AMERICAN AVOCETS, 8 RUDDY
TURNSTONES, 6 SANDERLINGS, 8 HUDSONIAN GODWITS, a DUNLIN, a RED-NECKED
PHALAROPE and more than 500 BLACK TERNS.

In the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 28th, 16 species of shorebirds were
found including: 5 BLACK- BELLIED PLOVERS, an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, a
SNOWY PLOVER, a WILLET, 21 SANDERLINGS, 777 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, 12
DUNLINS and 4 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS. Also on the 28th, a SAY'S PHOEBE
was seen near McMurtrey Refuge in Clay County.

In Douglas County on June 1st, a SNOW GOOSE, a WESTERN KINGBIRD and 2
GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS were seen at Standing Bear Lake. In Sarpy County on
the 28th in Fontenelle Forest a YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON and an ALDER
FLYCATCHER were found and on the 25th, a BLUE- HEADED VIREO and a MOURNING
WARBLER were seen.

In Washington County on the 28th at Neale Woods nature Center, a MOURNING
WARBLER and a KENTUCKY WARBLER were spotted on Paw Paw Trail. Also on the
28th, a WESTERN GREBE was spotted at Nathan's Lake north of Neale Woods.
On the 27th, 20 CEDAR WAXWINGS were seen at Boyer Chute NWR.

In eastern Cass County on the 30th, a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was seen at
Sciota Bottoms on Eaton Lane. In Elmwood on the 31st, 3 EURASIAN
COLLARED-DOVES are still being seen. On the 29th, an immature BALD EAGLE
was seen at Platte River State Park.

In Dixon County on the 24th an ACADIAN FLYCATCHER was found on a farm
northwest of Wakefield, and on the 25th, a PHILADELPHIA VIREO was seen
there. On the 25th, at Farenholz Ponds, an EARED GREBE, a COMMON
MERGANSER and 3 WILLOW FLYCATCHERS were found. South of the ponds on 581
Ave. a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE and a pair of SEDGE WRENS were seen.
