Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, March 6th.
In western Nebraska on the 1st at Lake Ogallala in Keith County, the male
TUFTED DUCK was seen again along with 17 species of waterfowl including
RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS. Also on the 1st, 6 TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES were
seen below the diversion dam at Keystone Lake.
In eastern Nebraska on the 5th in Cass County, the 2 EURASIAN
COLLARD-DOVES were still being seen in Elmwood.
In Douglas County on the 2nd at Neale Woods, 2 WOOD DUCKS were seen on
the Missouri River Ecology Trail. On February 29th at Cunningham Lake a
PIED-BILLED GREBE, a DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT and a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER
were found.
In Washington County on the 2nd, GREEN-WINGED TEAL, GADWALLS, NORTHERN
PINTAILS, AMERICAN WIGEONS, BUFFLEHEADS, 2 HOODED MERGANSERS and AMERICAN
COOTS were found at Nathan's Lake. On the 3rd, a NORTHERN SHRIKE was
seen just north of Nathan's Lake.
In Sarpy County on the 2nd, a BLUE-WINGED TEAL was seen at Walnut Creek
Recreation Area.
In Lancaster County on the 6th, 4 WILD TURKEYS came to feeders at Spring
Creek Prairie and on the 1st, an EASTERN MEADOWLARK was seen there.
In Iowa on the 5th in Fremont County, 400 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, 3
ROSS'S GEESE, 300 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and 7 GREATER YELLOWLEGS were
found at Forney Lake south of Bartlett.
