Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Saturday, March 11th.

In central Nebraska in Hall County, the COMMON CRANE reported on the 10th
was not found on the 11th. The bird is almost certainly still in the
area, but may have moved to another field. Many birders will be in the
area tomorrow, Sunday, looking for the bird. It was last seen south of
the Platte River at the Wood River I-80 exit (Exit 300). The bird was
located about 0.5 mile west of the intersection of Denman Rd. and Highway 11.
Denman Rd. is the first road south of the river. If you see the bird,
please notify the Nebraska Birdline at 402 292-5325 or e-mail at
lpdlfrd@juno.com.

On the 11th in Hall County, a WHOOPING CRANE was seen south of the Alda
I-80 Exit. Cross the Platte River to Platte River Road and go east about
3/4 mile to where the road turns north. The bird was in the field
immediately to the east as you make this turn. It has been in this same
location for the last 2 days.

In eastern Nebraska in Lancaster County on the 11th, a ROSS'S GOOSE,
RUDDY DUCKS, a FRANKLIN'S GULL and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW were found at Pawnee
Lake SRA. Also on the 11th, several flocks of GREATER WHITE-FRONTED
GEESE, several thousand SNOW GEESE and 3 RED- BREASTED MERGANSERS were seen
at Branched Oak Lake. Also at Branched Oak Lake, a NORTHERN SHRIKE was
found at Area 7. On the 7th, a BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE was spotted near the
northwest side of Branched Oak Lake at 182nd St. and Agnew Road.
