Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Wednesday, March 15th.

In central Nebraska in Hall County, the COMMON CRANE was seen again on
the 15th on Denman Road. In a large flock SANDHILL CRANES from 4:45 to
6:45 PM. Take the Wood River I-80 exit (Exit 300) and cross the Platte
River. The bird was located about 0.5 mile west of the intersection of
Denman Rd. and Highway 11. Denman Rd. is the first road south of the
river. Two WHOOPING CRANES were seen on the 14th. One was seen
approximately 2.3 miles east from Highway 11 on Platte River Road, and the
other bird was seen about 5 miles further east on the Platte River Road.
When viewing these birds, please respect private property and do not
trespass. If you see the COMMON CRANE, please notify the Nebraska
Birdline at (402) 292-5325 or by e-mail at lpdlfrd@juno.com.

In western Nebraska at Lake McConaughy on the 12th, the TUFTED DUCK was
seen again on Keystone Lake near the diversion dam.

In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County on the 15th, the PINE WARBLER was
seen again in Bellevue south of Bellevue University. For information on
seeing the bird, call 291-2186.
