Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Thursday, March 23rd.

In central Nebraska in Hall County, the COMMON CRANE family was seen from
about 5:15 to 5:50 PM on the 22nd in a field on Platte River Drive about
a mile from Highway 11. To find the field take the Wood River I-80 Exit
300 and cross the Platte River. Continue south on Highway 11 about a mile
until you come to Platte River Drive. Go west on Platte River Drive to a
point where the road turns sharply south. It is at this corner where the
birds have been seen recently. If you see the COMMON CRANE, please
notify the Nebraska Birdline at 402 292-5325 or by e-mail at
lpdlfrd@juno.com. Also on the 22nd, a WHOOPING CRANE was spotted about 4
miles west of Doniphan on Platte River Drive.

In western Nebraska in Keith County, the TUFTED DUCK was still present on
Keystone Lake on the 20thand was visible from the diversion dam on the
east end of the lake.
