Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, May 1st.

In eastern Nebraska in Dodge County on the 30th, a CLARK'S GREBE was seen
with a WESTERN GREBE on a pond behind the John Deere dealer a half mile
west of Fremont on Highway 30. Also on the 30th, a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH
was found in Hormel Park in Fremont.

In Sarpy County in Bellevue on the 30th, a PILEATED WOODPECKER was seen
on South Stream Trail in Fontenelle Forest. Also on the 30th, a
BLUE-HEADED VIREO, 3 YELLOW-THROATED WARBLERS, 4 NORTHERN PARULAS, COMMON
YELLOWTHROATS and a SUMMER TANAGER were found in Fontenelle Forest. On May
1st, a MAGNOLIA WARBLER was seen in the Birdline backyard. On the 29th,
an AMERICAN AVOCET was spotted at Chalco Hills Recreation Area and on the
30th, a SEDGE WREN and 2 RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS were seen there. In
Douglas County in Omaha on the 28th, a PROTHONOTARY WARBLER was seen at
Towle Park.

In Washington County on the 28th, a GREAT-CRESTED FLYCATCHER, a
YELLOW-THROATED VIREO and a WARBLING VIREO were seen at Neale Woods along
County Road P-51. Also at Neale Woods on the 28th, 2 PROTHONOTARY
WARBLERS, 2 YELLOW-THROATED WARBLERS and 2 ROSE- BREASTED GROSBEAKS were
seen on the Krimlofski Tract. On the 30th at Neale Woods, a COOPER'S
HAWK, a NASHVILLE WARBLER and a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH were found.

In Dixon County on the 30th, UPLAND SANDPIPERS, CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS and
an ORCHARD ORIOLE were seen northwest of Wakefield. On the 27th, a SAY'S
PHOEBE was spotted northwest of Wakefield. In Pierce County on the 30th,
a PIPING PLOVER, 6 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 4 FORSTER'S TERNS and an
EASTERN KINGBIRD were found at Willow Creek Recreation Area.

In western Nebraska in Keith County on the 29th, a male TUFTED DUCK, 2
SURF SCOTERS, a male OLDSQUAW and a LEAST FLYCATCHER were seen at Lake
Ogallala. Also on the 29th, a PEREGRINE FALCON, a HUDSONIAN GODWIT and 11
SANDERLINGS were found at Lake McConaughy. On the 30th, a LESSER
BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen at Lake McConaughy and a BARN OWL and 2 SWAINSON'S
THRUSHES were seen at Lake Ogallala. In Garden County on the 30th, an
AMERICAN BITTERN, a LONG-EARED OWL, a BARN OWL, a ROCK WREN, a BLUE-GRAY
GNATCATCHER and a GRAY CATBIRD were seen at Crescent Lake NWR. In Dundy
County on the 29th, a CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER was spotted at Rock Creek
Fish Hatchery.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 29th, WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS, a PYGMY
NUTHATCH, a MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD and a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE were found in
Carter Canyon. Also on the 29th, a CINNAMON TEAL, an AMERICAN AVOCET, a
LEAST SANDPIPER and a BURROWING OWL were seen at Kiowa WMA. In Morrill
County on the 30th, a GOLDEN EAGLE was seen at Facus Springs WMA.

In central Nebraska in Buffalo County on the 29th, 4 CATTLE EGRETS and a
LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE were seen a mile southeast of the Gibbon I-80 Exit. In
Phelps County on the 29th, a SNOWY EGRET, 4 ibis species, a SANDERLING,
25 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 30 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 35 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS,
40 WILSON'S PHALAROPES, a SWAINSON'S THRUSH and 350 CLAY- COLORED SPARROWS
were found at Funk Lagoon.

In Harlan County on the 29th, a SNOWY EGRET, an EASTERN KINGBIRD, a
WESTERN KINGBIRD and a WARBLING VIREO were seen and on the 28th, 2
YELLOW-BREASTED CHATS were seen there. On the 30th, a CATTLE EGRET was
seen at the Alma boat ramp and 7 AMERICAN AVOCETS were seen on the west
side of the dam at Harlan Reservoir.
