Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Thursday, May 4th.

In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County on the 3rd, a SCISSOR-TAILED
FLYCATCHER was seen at Chalco Hills Recreation Area northwest of
Papillion. It was seen on the west side of the lake near the picnic
area. Also seen at Chalco on the 3rd were an EASTERN KINGBIRD, a GRAY
CATBIRD and a YELLOW WARBLER. In Bellevue on the 4th in Fontenelle Forest
the following birds were seen: a WOOD THRUSH, a SCARLET TANAGER, 2
PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS on North Stream Trail, a SEDGE WREN and 4 PALM
WARBLERS near the blind on the marsh. On the 2nd, a PILEATED WOODPECKER
was seen on South Stream Trail in Fontenelle Forest. Also seen on the
2nd in Fontenelle Forest were: a LEAST FLYCATCHER, a GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH,
11 species of warblers including 3 NORTHERN WATERTHRUSHES and AMERICAN
REDSTARTS. In Douglas County on the 29th, a dark-phase BROAD-WINGED HAWK
was spotted near 72nd St. and I-680 north of Omaha.

In Washington County on the 1st at Neale Woods, a LEAST FLYCATCHER, a
GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER, 3 WOOD THRUSHES, a NASHVILLE WARBLER, a
NORTHERN PARULA, a BLACK and WHITE WARBLER, a YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER and an
AMERICAN REDSTART were found.

In Dodge County on the 3rd, a SNOWY EGRET was seen on a farm pond 7 miles
northwest of Ames, and 2 AMERICAN PIPITS were seen in fields near there.

In Lancaster County on the 29th, 2 COOPER'S HAWKS, a BARRED OWL and a
BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER were seen in Wilderness Park in Lincoln. On the
3rd, an UPLAND SANDPIPER was seen a mile north of Spring Creek Prairie,
located south of Denton.

In the eastern Rainwater Basin on April 30th the following species were
found: a GREAT EGRET, 5 WHITE-FACED IBIS, 7 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 167
AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS, 169 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 2 PIPING PLOVERS, 110
WILLETS, 16 UPLAND SANDPIPERS, 25 HUDSONIAN GODWITS, 4 MARBLED GODWITS,
21 SANDERLINGS, 1,210 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 3 WESTERN SANDPIPERS, 104
LEAST SANDPIPERS, 106 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, 112 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS,
521 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 20 STILT SANDPIPERS, 25 BUFF-BREASTED
SANDPIPERS, 2 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 720 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 1,061
WILSON'S PHALAROPES and a BOBOLINK.

In Clay County on the 30th, a pair of GREATER SCAUP and a HERRING GULL were
found at Harvard WPA. In Fillmore County on the 30th, a LEAST
FLYCATCHER, a SWAINSON'S THRUSH, a BLACK and WHITE WARBLER and an OVENBIRD
were found in the Geneva Cemetery.

In central Nebraska in Buffalo County on the 2nd, 2 CATTLE EGRETS were
seen in a pasture 3.5 miles southeast of Gibbon.

In Harlan County on the 1st, 30 WHITE-FACED IBIS were seen in Alma on the
west side of Highway 183.

n western Nebraska in Sheridan County on the 1st, a PEREGRINE FALCON and 3
WHITE-FACED IBIS were found at Walgren Lake.
