Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, September 5th.

In western Nebraska on the 3rd in Kimball County, a PLUMBEOUS VIREO, 3
CASSIN'S VIREOS, a VIRGINIA'S WARBLER, a MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER and 3
WESTERN TANAGERS were seen at Oliver Reservoir. Also on the 3rd, a
GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE was found south of I-80 Exit 1. On the 2nd, at
Oliver Reservoir the following species were seen: 3 HAMMOND'S
FLYCATCHERS, 5 CASSIN'S VIREOS, 3 TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS and 8 MACGILLIVRAY'S
WARBLERS. Also on the 2nd, 6 CASSIN'S KINGBIRDS and 2 SAGE THRASHERS were
found south of I-80 Exit 1.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 3rd, a HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER, a CASSIN'S
VIREO and a WESTERN TANAGER were seen at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering.
Also on the 3rd, a COMMON TERN and 3 TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS were found at Lake
Minatare, and 3 COMMON TERNS were seen at Lake Alice. On the 3rd, a SAGE
THRASHER was seen in southwest Scotts Bluff County.

In Banner County on the 1st, 7 TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS, 2 YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLERS and a BLUE GROSBEAK were seen in Hull Cemetery. Also on the 1st,
16 CASSIN'S KINGBIRDS and a SAGE THRASHER were seen in Long Canyon.

In eastern Nebraska in Clay County on the 2nd, 3 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES
were seen in Sutton. On the 2nd, a BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER was seen
at Lange WPA. In Thayer County on the 2nd, a BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER was
spotted at Prairie Marsh WMA. On the 2nd and 3rd, other species seen
throughout the eastern Rainwater Basin were: 15 GREAT EGRETS, 3 SNOWY
EGRETS, 5 CATTLE EGRETS, 33 plegadis IBIS sp., 17 species of shorebirds
including an AMERICAN AVOCET, 66 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS and a RED-NECKED
PHALAROPE.

In Dixon County on the 1st, an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, a WILSON'S
WARBLER, a MOURNING WARBLER, a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW and 2 ORCHARD ORIOLES
were seen northwest of Wakefield, and on the 3rd, 3 RUBY-THROATED
HUMMINGBIRDS, a NASHVILLE WARBLER and a VESPER SPARROW were found there.

In Sarpy County on the 3rd, 5 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were seen in a sod
farm south of Bellevue. On the 5th, an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was seen
on the sod farm east of Offutt AFB.

In Cass County on the 3rd, 24 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were found on a
sod farm on Bay Road North just south of the Platte River.

In central Nebraska in Buffalo County on August 31st, 50 BLACK-BILLED
MAGPIES were spotted 2 miles east of the Gibbon I-80 exit. On the 1st, 8
CATTLE EGRETS were seen at Bufflehead SRA. On the 2nd at Rowe Sanctuary,
a GREAT EGRET, 30 EASTERN KINGBIRDS, 4 BELL'S VIREOS, 5 SEDGE WRENS, and a
YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT were found.

In Phelps County on the 3rd, 8 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, 16
DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, 5 GREAT EGRETS, 17 CATTLE EGRETS, 32
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, 2 SWAINSON'S HAWKS, 10 SORAS and 16 FRANKLIN'S
GULLS were found at Funk Lagoon.
