Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Thursday, September 14th.

In western Nebraska on the 11th in Kimball County, 2 COOPER'S HAWKS, a
PLUMBEOUS VIREO, a MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER, 7 TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS and 2
TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES were seen at Oliver Reservoir. Also on the 11th, 2
CASSIN'S KINGBIRDS, 2 ROCK WRENS, 3 SAGE THRASHERS and a GREEN-TAILED
TOWHEE were found south of I-80 Exit 1.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 13th at the Gering Cemetery, a ROCK WREN, 2
TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS and a SPOTTED TOWHEE were found. On the 11th, a
LONG-TAILED JAEGER, a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, 2 CASPIAN TERNS and 6
COMMON TERNS were found at Lake Minatare. On the 11th in Garden County,
a HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER, a CASSIN'S VIREO, a TOWNSEND'S WARBLER and 21
WILSON'S WARBLERS were seen at Ash Hollow State Park. Also on the 11th,
a DUSKY FLYCATCHER was seen and heard at Mud Springs in Morrill County.

In Keith County on the 11th at Lake McConaughy, a BLACK-NECKED STILT, an
AMERICAN GOLDEN- PLOVER and 23 COMMON TERNS were seen and a RED-NECKED
GREBE and 41 WILSON'S WARBLERS were seen at Lake Ogallala. On the 10th at
Lake McConaughy, 2 RUDDY TURNSTONES, a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, 2
CASPIAN TERNS and 2 COMMON TERNS were seen. On the 8th a "pelagic" trip on
Lake McConaughy found a PEREGRINE FALCON, 5 RED KNOTS, 2 sub-adult
POMARINE JAEGERS, and a juvenile SABINE'S GULL. A second "pelagic" trip on
the 10th, found 2 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, a POMARINE JAEGER and 2 SABINE'S GULLS.

In McPherson County on the 7th , a PRAIRIE FALCON, 22 BURROWING OWLS, 2
SAY'S PHOEBES, a SWAINSON'S THRUSH and 20 CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS were found.

In eastern Nebraska in Jefferson County on the 10th, 15 MISSISSIPPI KITES
were seen flying just north of Fairbury.

In Burt County on the 10th at the Tekamah sewage ponds, 4 species of
shorebirds were found including a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER. At Summit
Reservoir on the 10th, a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, 12 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS,
35 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 9 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, a STILT SANDPIPER, 2
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT were seen.

In Lancaster County on the 8th, 23 GREAT EGRETS were seen at Spring Creek
Prairie south of Denton.

In Sarpy County on the 14th in Bellevue, 2 RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS, a MERLIN
and a PEREGRINE FALCON were seen in Fontenelle Forest. Also on the 14th,
an OSPREY, 2 COOPER'S HAWKS and 9 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS were seen flying over
Camp Wakonda south of Fontenelle Forest. On the 12th, 2 OSPREYS and 2
SWAINSON'S HAWKS were seen at Camp Wakonda. South of Bellevue on the
8th, 2 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS were found on the sod farm east of Offutt AFB.

In Cass County on the 8th, 8 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were still being
seen in Elmwood.
