Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, May 7th.

In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County on the 3rd in Bellevue, an OSPREY, a
PILEATED WOODPECKER, a WHITE-EYED VIREO, a GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH, 13
species of warblers (including BLACK-THROATED GREEN, PALM, PROTHONOTARY
and OVENBIRD), a SCARLET TANAGER and a LE CONTE'S SPARROW were found in
Fontenelle Forest. On the 5th, 2 SORAS were seen at La Platte Bottoms
south of Offutt AFB. Also on the 5th, a BLUE GROSBEAK was found north of
Schramm State Park and a DICKCISSEL was seen east of Schramm. On the 4th,
2 CATTLE EGRETS were spotted along Cornhusker Rd. in the golf course west
of Bellevue. In Douglas County on the 5th in Omaha, 13 species of
warblers were found in Dodge Park including: 2 GOLDEN-WINGED, 2
CHESTNUT-SIDED, a MAGNOLIA, a BLACKBURNIAN and a WILSON'S.

In Washington County on the 5th at Fort Atkinson 2 BLUE-HEADED VIREOS, a
GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH, 9 SWAINSON'S THRUSHES, a SUMMER TANAGER and 10 species
of warblers were found including a BLACK-THROATED GREEN, 3 OVENBIRDS and an
AMERICAN REDSTART. Also on the 5th, a VIRGINIA RAIL, 2 SORAS and 2 MARSH
WRENS were found at Nathan's Lake.

In Dakota County on the 5th, a HOODED WARBLER was seen in South Sioux
City. On the 4th, an AMERICAN BITTERN was found at Crystal Cove. On the
5th, 3 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER were seen at
Trecy's Slough. In Dixon County on the 5th, a COOPER'S HAWK, 2 BLUE-GRAY
GNATCATCHERS and a SPOTTED TOWHEE were found in Ponca State Park. In Wayne
County on the 6th, a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER and an OVENBIRD were found in Hoskins.

In Seward County on the 5th, the following birds were found at Tamora
Marsh: 12 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, and 10 species of shorebirds
including 6 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS and a HUDSONIAN GODWIT. In the eastern
Rainwater Basin from the 2nd - 4th, 22 species of shorebirds were found
including: 4 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 32 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS, 31
SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 14 HUDSONIAN GODWITS, a WESTERN SANDPIPER, 114
WHITE- RUMPED SANDPIPERS, 9 DUNLIN, 15 STILT SANDPIPERS, a SHORT-BILLED
DOWITCHER and 1,294 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS. Other birds found in the
Rainwater Basin from the 2nd-4th were: a SNOWY EGRET, 8 BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT-HERONS, an AMERICAN BITTERN, 6 WHITE-FACED IBIS, a ROSS'S GOOSE, 2
PEREGRINE FALCONS, a SORA and a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD.

In Cass County on the 6th at Platte River State Park, 2 EASTERN
WOOD-PEWEES and a PHILADELPHIA VIREO were found. On the 6th at Schilling
Refuge east of Plattsmouth a NORTHERN PARULA and a YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER
were found in a sycamore grove on the NE corner of the refuge.

In Richardson County on the 6th, 3 NORTHERN PARULAS, 2 LOUISIANA
WATERTHRUSHES, 2 KENTUCKY WARBLERS and 3 SUMMER TANAGERS were seen at
Indian Cave State Park.

In central Nebraska in Adams County on the 7th in Hastings, a
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, a WORM- EATING WARBLER, a KENTUCKY WARBLER, a
LAZULI BUNTING and a BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK were found in Park View
Cemetery. In Phelps County on the 5th at Funk Lagoon, a PRAIRIE FALCON and
2 SORAS were seen. At Sacramento/Wilcox WMA on the 5th, a SNOWY EGRET,
45 STILT SANDPIPERS, 600 WILSON'S PHALAROPES, 3 WESTERN KINGBIRDS and 2
DICKCISSELS were found. In Buffalo County at Kearney Lake on the 5th, 2
WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS and a WILLOW FLYCATCHER were found.

In western Nebraska in Scotts Bluff County on the 6th, 48 WHITE-FACED
IBIS, and 11 AMERICAN AVOCETS were found in a pond between Mitchell and Morrill.
