Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, May 14th.

In western Nebraska in Scotts Bluff County on the 13th, a WHITE-WINGED
DOVE was still being seen in a yard in Scottsbluff. For more
information, call Dean and Phyllis Drawbaugh at 308-632-4869. Also seen at
the Drawbaugh's on the 11th were, a WESTERN TANAGER, a BLACK-HEADED
GROSBEAK, and 2 LAZULI BUNTINGS. On the 12th, a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was
seen in Mitchell and a CLARK'S GREBE and 7 CINNAMON TEAL were found in a
pond south of Mitchell.

On the 13th in Morrill County, 2 WHIMBRELS were found a few miles north
of Angora, and a BURROWING OWL was seen a mile north of Angora.

In eastern Nebraska in the eastern Rainwater Basin from the 11th - 13th
22 species of shorebirds were found. Highlights include: 81
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 1 WHIMBREL (2 miles south of Verona, Clay County),
109 HUDSONIAN GODWITS, 2 RUDDY TURNSTONES, 673 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS,
10 DUNLINS, 230 STILT SANDPIPERS, 3 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS and 10
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS. Other highlights were a SNOWY EGRET, a LITTLE
BLUE HERON, 11 AMERICAN BITTERNS, 52 WHITE-FACED IBIS and 2 CINNAMON TEAL
(Sinninger WPA, York County).

In Sarpy County on the 12th in Bellevue, a CONNECTICUT WARBLER and a
GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER were seen from the Riverview Boardwalk in
Fontenelle Forest. A WHITE-EYED VIREO was also spotted in Fontenelle on
the 12th. On the 12th in Schramm State Park, an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER
and 12 species of warblers were found including: GOLDEN-WINGED, MAGNOLIA,
CHESTNUT-SIDED, BLACK-THROATED GREEN and WILSON'S. On the 13th, a BLACK
TERN was spotted at Walnut Creek Lake west of Papillion.

In Cass County on the 12th, a PIPING PLOVER and a BELL'S VIREO were seen in
or near Schilling Wildlife Refuge east of Plattsmouth.

In Richardson County on the 12th, an adult BALD EAGLE, a COOPER'S HAWK, a
PROTHONOTARY WARBLER, a LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH, 2 KENTUCKY WARBLERS and 7
SUMMER TANAGERS were found at Indian Cave State Park. Also on the 12th,
a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO and a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD were seen near Salem.

In Lancaster County on the 12th, a LITTLE BLUE HERON was found at Cracker
Barrel Marsh, and an AMERICAN BITTERN and a WHITE-FACED IBIS were seen at
Arbor Lake.

In central Nebraska on the 12th in Hall County, a BROAD-WINGED HAWK, a
BELL'S VIREO, a MAGNOLIA WARBLER and 9 BOBOLINKS were found at Hannon WPA and
Lilly Sandpits.
