Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, May 25th. Audubon is sponsoring a Bird
Walk in Fontenelle Forest on Sunday, May 27th. Meet at the Gifford Road
parking lot at 7:30 AM.

In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County in Bellevue on the 25th, a
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, 2 PILEATED WOODPECKERS, a WILLOW FLYCATCHER, 2
GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSHES, 7 warbler species including CHESTNUT-SIDED and
WILSON'S were seen in Fontenelle Forest. South of Bellevue on the 24th,
6 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 5 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 4 RED-NECKED
PHALAROPES were found at La Platte Bottoms. Also on the 24th, 9 species
of warblers were found in Fontenelle Forest including MAGNOLIA and PROTHONOTARY.

In Douglas County on the 14th, ALDER FLYCATCHERS and LEAST FLYCATCHERS were
found in Towl Park in Omaha.

In Seward County on the 25th, 11 species of shorebirds were found,
including a DUNLIN and a RED- NECKED PHALAROPE. On the 25th in the eastern
Rainwater Basin, 12 species of shorebirds were found including 2
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 40 SANDERLINGS and 2 DUNLINS.

In central Nebraska on the 24th in Harlan County, 5 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES
were found in the east sewage pond in Alma.

On the 24th in Buffalo County, 5 shorebird species were seen at Kearney
Lake including 40 WHITE- RUMPED SANDPIPERS and 40 STILT SANDPIPERS.

In Iowa south of Bartlett in Fremont County on the 25th, a TRI-COLORED
HERON was spotted at Forney Lake about 7:30 p.m. It was first seen on
the large island on the north side of the lake before it flew into the
tall grass just west of the island and could no longer be seen.
