Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Wednesday, May 30th.

In eastern Nebraska in the eastern Rainwater Basin from the 26th - 28th,
24 species of shorebirds were found including: 21 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS,
1 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, 11 WILLETS, 1 WHIMBREL, 8 HUDSONIAN GODWITS, 1
RUDDY TURNSTONE (at Tamora WPA, Seward), 23 SANDERLINGS, 2,738
WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, 266 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS and 20 RED-NECKED
PHALAROPES. Other birds seen in the eastern Rainwater Basin were: 5
SNOWY EGRETS, 12 WHITE-FACED IBIS, 2 ROSS'S GEESE and 2,100 BLACK TERNS.

In Richardson County on the 28th in Indian Cave State Park, an ACADIAN
FLYCATCHER, 2 CERULEAN WARBLERS and a MOURNING WARBLER were seen on Trail
#9. Also seen in Indian Cave on the 28th, were 2 PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS,
3 LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSHES, 7 KENTUCKY WARBLERS, 4 SUMMER TANAGERS and 4
SCARLET TANAGERS.

In Seward County on the 28th, 9 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 6 GOLDEN PLOVERS,
a SANDERLING and a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE were spotted at Tamora WPA.

In Lancaster County on the 26th, a WHITE-FACED IBIS was spotted at
Cracker Barrel Marsh in Lincoln. Also on the 26th, at Little Salt Fork
Creek marsh, a MARBLED GODWIT and 3 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were found.

On the Johnson-Nemaha County line, 2 PINE SISKINS appeared on the 28th and
visited a feeder 0.3 mile south of Highway 36.

In Douglas County on the 27th, a PEREGRINE FALCON was seen flying over
the exercise trail in Dodge Park. In Sarpy County on the 27th, a
MOURNING WARBLER was found on the Marsh Trail in Fontenelle Forest. Also
on the 27th, an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was spotted in Schramm State Park.

In central Nebraska on the 26th in Frontier County, 3 EARED GREBES, a
WESTERN GREBE, a CLARK'S GREBE, an OSPREY, 13 BELL'S VIREOS, 4
YELLOW-BREASTED CHATS and a BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK were found at Medicine
Creek Reservoir.

In western Nebraska on the 28th in Scotts Bluff County, a PLUMBEOUS VIREO
was seen at a marshy area north of Mitchell on Highway 29. In Sioux
County on the 28th, 18 BULLOCK'S ORIOLES were counted and a BOBOLINK and 6
UPLAND SANDPIPERS were found at Agate Fossil Beds. In Dawes County on
the 28th, 8 VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were found in Chadron State Park.

In Iowa south of Bartlett in Fremont County on the 28th, a TRI-COLORED
HERON was still present at Forney Lake at 8:00 PM. It was seen again on
the large island on the north side of the lake.
