Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, June 4th.
In eastern Nebraska in Lancaster County on the 2nd, a LEAST BITTERN, 2
CATTLE EGRETS and 2 WILSON'S PHALAROPES were found at Cracker Barrel Marsh
at I-80 and No. 27th St. in Lincoln.
In the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 2nd and 3rd, 12 species of shorebirds
were found including: 2 BLACK- BELLIED PLOVERS, a SANDERLING, 501
WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS and a DUNLIN. Other birds seen in the eastern
Rainwater Basin were: 7 GREAT EGRETS, 11 CATTLE EGRETS, 2 ROSS'S GEESE, 3
HOODED MERGANSERS and a PEREGRINE FALCON.
In southeast Otoe County on the 3rd, a GREAT EGRET, a WOOD THRUSH, 4
BELL'S VIREOS and 3 BLUE GROSBEAKS were seen.
In central Nebraska on the 2nd in Harlan County, 3 CANVASBACKS, 5 LESSER
SCAUP, 150 BLACK TERNS and 5 STILT SANDPIPERS were found in Alma on the
east and south sewage ponds.
In Buffalo County on the 2nd, 4 WILLOW FLYCATCHERS, 2 BELL'S VIREOS, 3
BLACK-BILLED MAGPIES and 5 BOBOLINKS were seen at Audubon's Rowe Sanctuary
near Gibbon.
In western Nebraska on the 2nd in south Sioux County, a WILLOW
FLYCATCHER, 3 HERMIT THRUSHES and 5 SWAINSON'S THRUSHES were found at Wind
Springs Ranch.
In southwest Kimball County on the 3rd, a MOUNTAIN PLOVER was seen.
In Garden County on the 3rd, a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER, a BLACKPOLL
WARBLER and a SUMMER TANAGER were found at Crescent Lake NWR. Also on the
3rd, a EURASIAN COLLARED- DOVE was seen in Oshkosh. Another EURASIAN
COLLARED-DOVE was found in Potter in Cheyenne County on the 3rd.
In Keith County on the 3rd at Lake Ogallala, a PACIFIC LOON, 2
RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, 71 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, 3 CALIFORNIA GULLS,
5 CASPIAN TERNS and an ALDER FLYCATCHER were seen. Also on the 3rd, a
RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD was found at Cedar Point Biological Station.
At Lake McConaughy on the 3rd, 79 SANDERLINGS, 65 WHITE-RUMPED
SANDPIPERS, 3 HERRING GULLS and a COMMON TERN were seen.
In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 3rd, 3 LEAST TERNS and 2 CASPIAN
TERNS were found at the Mid- American south pond.
