Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, July 10th.
In eastern Nebraska in the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 7th the
following species were found in Clay County between Geneva and Clay Center:
an AMERICAN BITTERN, 6 GREAT EGRETS, 40 CATTLE EGRETS, 35 WHITE-FACED
IBIS, 2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, a SOLITARY SANDPIPER and a WILSON'S PHALAROPE.
In Lancaster County on the 8th at Branched Oak Lake, 5 DOUBLE-CRESTED
CORMORANTS, 12 FORSTER'S TERNS and 8 BLACK TERNS were found. Also on the
8th, 5 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, a LEAST SANDPIPER, a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER and a
WILSON'S PHALAROPE were seen at Cracker Barrel Marsh, and 2 SOLITARY
SANDPIPERS were found at Little Salt Creek.
In Antelope County on the 4th, a GRAY PARTRIDGE was seen 1.5 miles north
of the intersection of Highways 20 and 13.
In central Nebraska in Holt County on the 8th, 19 UPLAND SANDPIPERS, 3
BURROWING OWLS, a LARK BUNTING and 9 CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPURS were found.
In western Nebraska in Scotts Bluff County on the 7th the following
species were seen at or near the Wildcat Hills Nature Center: a
VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW, 2 PYGMY NUTHATCHES, a RED- BREASTED NUTHATCH, a
ROCK WREN, 9 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS, a LAZULI BUNTING and about 60 RED
CROSSBILLS.
