Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, August 20th.

In central Nebraska on the 19th in Phelps County, an immature WHITE IBIS
was seen at Johnson WPA about 10 miles southeast of Holdrege. Other
birds found at Johnson were 2 YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, 13 Plegadis
IBIS sp. and 12 species of shorebirds. At Funk Lagoon on the 19th, 4 GREAT
EGRETS, 8 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS and 9 Plegadis IBIS sp. were found.

In Buffalo County on the 18th, 4 GREAT EGRETS, UPLAND SANDPIPERS and a
NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD were seen at Audubon's Rowe Sanctuary.

In eastern Nebraska in the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 17th, 13
species of shorebirds were found including: a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, 3
AMERICAN AVOCETS, 188 STILT SANDPIPERS, 5 BUFF- BREASTED SANDPIPERS, 5
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 4 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS. Other birds seen
there were : 8 GREAT EGRETS, a SNOWY EGRET and 21 WHITE-FACED IBIS.

In Dixon County on the 19th, a BLACK and WHITE WARBLER, 2 NASHVILLE
WARBLERS, an OVENBIRD and 3 AMERICAN REDSTARTS were found at Ponca State Park.

In Lancaster County on the 20th south of Denton, an UPLAND SANDPIPER and 6
SEDGE WRENS were seen at Spring Creek Prairie.

In Richardson County on the 18th, a NORTHERN PARULA, 3 AMERICAN REDSTARTS
and 3 SUMMER TANAGERS were found at Indian Cave State Park.

In Saunders County on the 18th, 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 6 STILT SANDPIPERS,
a LEAST SANDPIPER, 11 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS and a PECTORAL SANDPIPER were
found at livestock ponds near Memphis Lakes SRA.

In Iowa, south of Council Bluffs on the 18th at the Mid-American south
pond, 9 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 15 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 4 STILT SANDPIPERS,
10 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS and 8 FORSTER'S TERNS were found.
