Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Sunday, September 2nd.
In western Nebraska in Scotts Bluff County on Sept. 1st in Carter Canyon
the following birds were seen: 8 SAY'S PHOEBES, a CASSIN'S VIREO, 5
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, 9 ROCK WRENS, several YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS and
RED CROSSBILLS. Also on the 1st, 2 SAGE THRASHERS were found on Robidoux Rd.
In southern Sioux County on the 30th, the following birds were found on
Wind Springs Ranch: 2 LEAST FLYCATCHERS, a CASSIN'S VIREO, a TOWNSEND'S
SOLITAIRE, a VEERY, a SWAINSON'S THRUSH, a MAGNOLIA WARBLER and a
MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER.
In Kimball County on the 30th at Oliver Reservoir, 2 CASSIN'S VIREOS and 2
TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS were found and on the 31st, 2 PRAIRIE FALCONS and 2
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were found there. On the 31st south of I-80 Exit
One, 4 CASSIN'S KINGBIRDS were seen.
In Keith County on the 31st, 4 MISSISSIPPI KITES were found in Ogallala.
At Lake McConaughy on the 31st, 10 CALIFORNIA GULLS were seen in Martin
Bay. Also on the 31st, an OSPREY, a CALIFORNIA GULL and about 300
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were seen on Keystone Lake.
In eastern Nebraska in York County on the 1st, 3 CATTLE EGRETS, 3
AMERICAN AVOCETS and about 200 STILT SANDPIPERS were found at Sinninger WPA.
In Lancaster County on the 31st south of Denton, a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD
was spotted at Spring Creek Prairie.
