Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, October 2nd.
In western Nebraska in Kimball County on the 26th at Oliver Reservoir, 2
RED-NAPED SAPSUCKERS were seen in the campground near the main entrance.
In southern Sioux County on the 29th the following species were found on
Wind Springs Ranch: a GOLDEN EAGLE, a RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER, a HERMIT
THRUSH, a SWAINSON'S THRUSH, a TOWNSEND'S WARBLER, a HOODED WARBLER and a
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW.
In Thomas County on the 29th and 30th at Halsey National Forest the
following species were found: an OSPREY, a MISSISSIPPI KITE, BALD EAGLE,
2 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS, a MERLIN, a PEREGRINE FALCON, a NORTHERN SHRIKE and a
WILSON'S WARBLER.
In eastern Nebraska in Dixon County on the 30th, a 3 LE CONTE'S SPARROWS
and a NELSON'S SHARP- TAILED SPARROW were found northwest of Wakefield.
In Seward County on the morning of the 2nd, about 1,000 SWAINSON'S HAWKS
in 4 large kettles were seen flying over Concordia University in Seward.
In Sarpy County on the 1st in Bellevue, an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, an
EASTERN PHOEBE, 2 NASHVILLE WARBLERS, 5 ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, 6
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS and 3 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were spotted in
Fontenelle Forest. On the 29th in Bellevue, a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER
was seen in the Birdline backyard.
