Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, October 8th.

In western Nebraska in Scotts Bluff County on the 6th, a MACGILLIVRAY'S
WARBLER was seen in a yard in Mitchell. In Gering on the 5th, about
1,000 SANDHILL CRANES were spotted.

In Keith County on September 28th, an adult GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL was
found at Lake McConaughy.

In Cherry County on September 29th, a PRAIRIE FALCON was seen southwest of Elsmere.

In central Nebraska in Phelps County on the 7th the following species
were found at Johnson WPA: 50 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 60 SANDHILL
CRANES, 135 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, a MARBLED GODWIT, 10 SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPERS, 8 WESTERN SANDPIPERS, 49 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 13 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS, 17 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 120 STILT SANDPIPERS, about 100
DOWITCHER sp. and 38 AMERICAN PIPITS. At Funk WPA on the 7th, 5 EARED
GREBES were found. Also on the 7th, a PEREGRINE FALCON was spotted 3
miles north of Funk WPA.

On the 6th in Harlan County, 55 SANDHILL CRANES were seen in Alma.

In eastern Nebraska in the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 5th and 6th the
following species were found: 2 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 7 AMERICAN
GOLDEN-PLOVERS, 18 AMERICAN AVOCETS, 20 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 12 LESSER
YELLOWLEGS, 14 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 2 DUNLIN, 21 STILT SANDPIPERS, 64
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 17 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS.

In north York County on September 28th, 13 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS were seen.

In Douglas County on the 6th in Omaha, 2 YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKERS and
several ORANGE- CROWNED WARBLERS were found at Hillcrest Cemetery.
