Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Wednesday, October 17th.

In eastern Nebraska in Lancaster County on the 16th, SAVANNAH, LE CONTE'S
and NELSON'S SHARP- TAILED SPARROWS were seen at Cracker Barrel Marsh in
northeast Lincoln. On the 14th in Lincoln, an EASTERN PHOEBE and a
NASHVILLE WARBLER were found at Wilderness Park. Also on the 14th, a
COOPER'S HAWK, a CAROLINA WREN and several LINCOLN'S SPARROWS were seen at
Pioneers Park. At Branched Oak Lake on the 14th, a NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED
SPARROW was found, and at Pawnee Lake, 14 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 7 PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, 2 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS and 6 STILT SANDPIPERS were seen.

In Sarpy County on the 17th in Bellevue, an EASTERN TOWHEE, a SWAMP
SPARROW and a DARK- EYED JUNCO were found in Fontenelle Forest. On the
12th in Bellevue, a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH and a BROWN CREEPER were seen at
a feeder south of Bellevue University.

In Douglas County on the 15th, 9 GREAT BLUE HERONS, 9 GREEN-WINGED TEAL,
a RING-NECKED DUCK and a COMMON SNIPE were found at Cunningham Lake. In
Washington County on the 2nd, a BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE was seen 6 miles
south of Blair.

In Knox County on the 13th, about 20 LE CONTE'S SPARROWS were seen in
several locations. On the 2nd, a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was found in a
cattle feed yard on the west side of Creighton.

In Saunders County on the 14th at Memphis Lakes SRA, 75 LEAST SANDPIPERS
and 6 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were found.

In Johnson County on the 11th, 2 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES were seen at a
feeder southwest of Johnson.

In Dixon County on the 13th, a SPOTTED TOWHEE and 8 species of sparrows
including CLAY-COLORED, HARRIS'S and WHITE-CROWNED were seen in a yard
northwest of Wakefield.

In central Nebraska in Buffalo County on the 14th, a EURASIAN
COLLARED-DOVE was spotted in east Kearney near the fairgrounds. Also on
the 14th, a PRAIRIE FALCON was seen between Kearney and Pleasanton.

In Phelps County on the 14th at Johnson WPA, an EARED GREBE, 10 species
of shorebirds including 120 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 65 STILT SANDPIPERS, 800
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 3 WILSON'S PHALAROPES and 80 AMERICAN PIPITS
were seen. At Funk Lagoon on the 14th, a HORNED GREBE and 3 EARED GREBES were found.
