Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, October 30th.

In eastern Nebraska in the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 28th the
following species were seen: approximately 3000 SNOW GEESE with some
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, 2 MERLINS, a PRAIRIE
FALCON (at Hansen WPA in Clay County), 62 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS, 120
KILLDEER, 17 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 12 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 10 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS, a DUNLIN, 36 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, a STILT SANDPIPER, 2
COMMON SNIPES, 300 BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS and many LAPLAND LONGSPURS.

In Lancaster County on the 30th south of Denton, a COOPER'S HAWK, 3
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, 4 EASTERN TOWHEES, a SPOTTED TOWHEE and a FOX
SPARROW were found at Spring Creek Prairie. On the 25th, 8 GREATER
PRAIRIE-CHICKENS and a SPRAGUE'S PIPIT were seen at Spring Creek Prairie and
on the 23rd, 4 LE CONTE'S SPARROWS and SMITH'S LONGSPURS were also found there.

In Sarpy County on the 30th in Bellevue, a WINTER WREN and 4 PINE SISKINS
were seen in a yard southwest of Fontenelle Forest. On the 28th, a
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET was seen in Quail Creek housing area.

In Dixon County on the 24th, a GRAY CATBIRD and EASTERN TOWHEES were seen
at Ponca State Park.

In central Nebraska on the 28th in Phelps County the following species
were seen at Johnson WPA: a MERLIN, 30 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 15 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS, 29 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 45 STILT SANDPIPERS, 100 LONG-BILLED
DOWITCHERS and 75 AMERICAN PIPITS. At Funk Lagoon on the 28th, 7 EARED
GREBES and 12 SANDHILL CRANES were found.

In western Nebraska on the 28th in Sioux County, PINE SISKINS and 8 species
of sparrows were found at Wind Springs Ranch, including AMERICAN TREE
SPARROWS and a FOX SPARROW.

In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 27th, 7 HORNED GREBES and a
RED-BREASTED MERGANSER were seen at Lake Manawa.
