Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, November 9th.
In eastern Nebraska in Knox County a SURF SCOTER was seen at the Niobrara
Sewage Lagoon, south pond on the 6th. On the 8th, a PRAIRIE FALCON was
spotted at Gavin's Point Dam in Cedar County.
On the 7th in Dodge County, 4 BLACK-BILLED MAGPIES, LAPLAND LONGSPURS and
PINE SISKINS were seen in farm fields northwest of Ames.
On the 4th in Douglas County, 2 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS were seen in
Neale Woods north of Omaha.
In Dixon County on the 3rd, a NORTHERN SHRIKE, a FOX SPARROW, a LINCOLN'S
SPARROW and 3 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were seen on farmland northwest of Wakefield.
In Sarpy County on the 31st in Bellevue, 2 FOX SPARROWS and 5 PURPLE
FINCHES were seen in Fontenelle Forest.
In Lancaster County on the 2nd, 4 COMMON SNIPES, 12 SAVANNAH SPARROWS and 2
RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were found at Cracker Barrel Marsh. On county roads
northwest of Lincoln, a MERLIN, 2 HORNED LARKS and a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET
were seen. At Branched Oak Lake on the 2nd, 3 GREAT BLUE HERONS, 30
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 2 immature BALD EAGLES, and 12 YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLERS were spotted along with several species of waterfowl.
In western Nebraska in Sheridan County, a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was
identified in Hay Springs on the 2nd.
In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 8th, 3 COMMON LOONS were seen on
Lake Manawa. At Forney Lake on the 1st, 9 GREAT BLUE HERONS and an adult
BALD EAGLE were found.
