Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, November 30th.
In eastern Nebraska in Seward County on the 29th, a HERMIT THRUSH was
seen at the Oak Glen WMA 1.5 miles north of Garland.
In Sarpy County on the 28th and 29th a WESTERN GREBE was found at Wehrspann
Lake northwest of Papillion. On the 29th, an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN, 2
GREAT BLUE HERONS and a good assortment of waterfowl including 150
BUFFLEHEADS and 35 HOODED MERGANSERS were seen there.
In Douglas County on the 28th, a COMMON LOON and 12 COMMON MERGANSERS were
found at Cunningham Lake and on the 27th, a THAYER'S GULL and 2 HERRING GULLS
were seen there.
In Knox County, a VESPER SPARROW has been visiting a feeder in Creighton
since the 28th and was seen again on the 30th.
In Pierce County on the 21st, a HARLEQUIN DUCK was reported at Willow
Creek SRA. There have been no further reports.
In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 30th, 9 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS,
a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, 3 KILLDEER, 3 BONAPARTE'S GULLS and 2 HERRING
GULLS were seen at the Mid American south pond. On the 29th at Lake
Manawa, 2 COMMON LOONS, a HORNED GREBE, 16 species of waterfowl were seen
including 200 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, 70 CANVASBACKS, 100 RING-NECKED DUCKS,
300 BUFFLEHEADS, 63 HOODED MERGANSERS, 11 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS and 200
RUDDY DUCKS were found.
