Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, December 31st.

In western Nebraska on the 29th in Dawes County, a WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL
was seen in the Crawford City Park.

In eastern Nebraska on the 27th, the Norfolk CBC tallied about 50
species. Highlights include: a NORTHERN GOSHAWK and a YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLER in Stanton County, 7 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS in Madison County in
the Norfolk Lutheran Cemetery and 12 LAPLAND LONGSPURS in Pierce County.

In Dodge County on the 29th, a PRAIRIE FALCON was spotted about 7 miles
northwest of Ames. On the 28th, a KILLDEER was seen at Fremont Lakes SRA.

On the 28th in Brown County, 2 YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKERS and 30 LAPLAND
LONGSPURS were seen near Meadville.

On the 28th in Keya Paha County, 2 PRAIRIE FALCONS were seen west of
Springview. Also on the 28th, 10 GREATER PRAIRIE CHICKENS, a
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET, a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER and 6 RED CROSSBILLS were
seen north of Meadville.

In Madison County on the 30th, a SHORT-EARED OWL was spotted 10 miles
south of Meadow Grove.

In Lancaster County on the 30th, a SHORT-EARED OWL was found at the
intersection of U.S. 77 and highway 33 south of Lincoln.

In Sarpy County on the 29th in Bellevue, a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was
found on History Trail in Fontenelle Forest. On the 30th and 31st, a male
PINE WARBLER returned to the Birdline feeders east of Bellevue East High
School. Also on the 30th, a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET was seen in College
Heights in Bellevue. Two RUSTY BLACKBIRDS have been visiting a yard in
Papillion since the 27th.

In Douglas County on 20th and 21st, a WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL visited a
feeder near 90th and Blondo in Omaha.
