Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, January 5th.

In western Nebraska in Keith County on the 1st at Lake Ogallala 40
TRUMPETER SWANS, a male and female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE, 5 THAYER'S GULLS and 3
GLAUCOUS GULLS were seen. A gray morph GYRFALCON was also seen on the 1st
below the Keystone diversion dam. On the 1st in Ogallala a EURASIAN
COLLARED-DOVE and 4 GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES were found. On the 3rd at Lake
Ogallala a male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE, a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, a HOODED
MERGANSER and a MEW GULL were seen.

The Lake McConaughy CBC tallied 94 species on the 30th. Highlights
include: a WESTERN GREBE, a ROSS'S GOOSE, a GARGANEY, 86 BALD EAGLES, 4
FERRUGINOUS HAWKS, 3 PRAIRIE FALCONS, a VIRGINIA RAIL, a MEW GULL, 2
CALIFORNIA GULLS, 7 THAYER'S GULLS, 9 GLAUCOUS GULLS, 7 EURASIAN
COLLARED-DOVES, 6 LONG-EARED OWLS, 2 NORTHERN SAW- WHET OWLS, 58
TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES, 25 PURPLE FINCHES, 5 SNOW BUNTINGS, 5 RUSTY
BLACKBIRDS and 41 BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS.

In Lincoln County on December 28th, a GLAUCOUS GULL was found at
Sutherland Reservoir and on the 3rd, 6 HOODED MERGANSERS were found there.

In Garden County on the 1st, 9 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were seen at the Clear
Creek Marshes.

In south Sioux County on the 31st, 300 GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES and 2
BLACK ROSY-FINCHES were seen at Wind Springs Ranch. On the 2nd, a GOLDEN
EAGLE, about 100 GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES and 1 BLACK ROSY FINCH were seen
on Wind Springs Ranch. In Scotts Bluff County on the 2nd, a PRAIRIE
FALCON was spotted along Highway 71 north of Scottsbluff.

In eastern Nebraska in Dodge County on the 4th, 3 RED CROSSBILLS were
seen at a feeder east of Ames.

In Sarpy County in Bellevue on the 1st , 5 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS visited a
heated pond in Riverview Heights. On the 29th, a GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET
was spotted at the Bellevue library.

In Washington County on the 5th, a COOPER'S HAWK and 3 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS
were found at Boyer Chute NWR.

In western Iowa in Fremont County on the 30th, 54 species were tallied on
the Shenandoah CBC. Highlights include: a GREAT BLUE HERON, 10 BALD
EAGLES, a COMMON SNIPE, 3 SNOW BUNTINGS, 2 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS and a BREWER'S
BLACKBIRD. In Pottawattamie County on the 1st, 4 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS
visited a yard north of Council Bluffs.
