Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, March 9th.

In western Nebraska on the 6th in Scotts Bluff County, NORTHERN PINTAILS,
LESSER SCAUP, CANVASBACKS, a male HOODED MERGANSER and a few RED-BREASTED
MERGANSERS were seen at Winter's Creek NWR.

In Keith County on the 4th at Lake Ogallala the following species were
seen: 3 WESTERN GREBES, 7 TRUMPETER SWANS, 2 TUNDRA SWANS, 18 GREATER
SCAUPand an adult female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE. At Lake McConaughy on the
4th, 136 BALD EAGLES, 4 THAYER'S GULLS, an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED
GULL, 5 GLAUCOUS GULLS and 80 SNOW BUNTINGS were found.

In Lincoln County on the 4th, 111 BALD EAGLES, a THAYER'S GULL and a
GLAUCOUS GULL were seen at Sutherland Reservoir. On the 3rd, a
first/second-year GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL was seen at Sutherland but could
not be found on the 4th.

In Deuel County on the 4th, a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was found at Big
Springs and a SHORT-EARED OWL was seen along I-80.

In eastern Nebraska in Douglas County on the 8th, 2 GREATER SCAUP, 10
REDHEADS, 2 BUFFLEHEADS and 6 AMERICAN COOTS were found at the Kiwanis Park
pond on Abbott Drive just west of Eppley Airport. In Sarpy County on the
3rd, 6 AMERICAN ROBINS were seen at Chalco Hills Recreation Area.

In Cass County on the 4th at South Bend, 20 BALD EAGLES, 12 EASTERN
BLUEBIRDS, 25 CEDAR WAXWINGS and 6 AMERICAN ROBINS were found at Middle
Island Lake and the Platte River. On the 3rd, a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was
spotted at 12th Street a half mile south of Minard Road.

In Dodge County on February 28th, 4 GREAT BLUE HERONS, 2 NORTHERN
PINTAILS and 2 LESSER SCAUP were seen at Fremont Lakes.

In central Nebraska in Harlan County on the 8th, NORTHERN PINTAILS,
GADWALLS, AMERICAN WIGEON, CANVASBACKS, REDHEADS, RING-NECKED DUCKS, a
ROSS'S GOOSE and SANDHILL CRANES were found at Harlan Reservoir. On the
7th, thousands of SNOW GEESE and a few WHITE- FRONTED GEESE were seen at Harlan.

In Gosper County on February 25th, a BUFFLEHEAD and a flock of 2000
RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS were seen at Johnson Lake. Also on the 25th, near
the Canaday Steam Plant, about a hundred AMERICAN ROBINS were seen. At
the Gosper/Phelps County line, 4 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were seen.
On the 25th, 66 SANDHILL CRANES were spotted in Gosper County.

In Phelps County on the 25th, a NORTHERN SHRIKE was found a couple miles
southeast of the Overton Bridge. Thirty 30 SANDHILL CRANES were also
seen on the 25th in Phelps County. In Dawson County on the 25th, 30
GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 3 AMERICAN WIGEON, a NORTHERN PINTAIL, a NORTHERN
HARRIER and 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were found at a feedlot 2 miles south of
the Lexington I-80 Exit.
